Can anyone with smallish wrists comment on the size of the Jazzmaster auto chrono?

    Hi Everyone,

I'm looking into making my first "serious" watch purchase, and the Jazzmaster auto chrono has caught my eye in a big way. I'm a little concerned about how it will fit me though. I have pretty skinny wrists (about 6.5" around), and other watches I've owned have all been <40 mm. I've tried on other 42mm watches, and some have looked fine while others have looked just plain goofy.

Ideally I'd just go find a store where I could try one on myself, but there are no Hamilton ADs near me, so I thought I'd ask here. Is there anyone with similarly sized wrists who owns this watch? How does it fit?

I don't own the Jazzmaster Auto Chrono, but I have tried one on before. My wrist are only about 6.25" around and it looked big on me. I find a lot of it depends on the lug width and thickness of the watch. I own a 46mm Hamilton Pilot and it fits my wrist perfect - although it is big, the lugs don't hang over my wrist. The Auto Chrono is a thicker watch though so it appears bigger.
My father has a X-Wind that looks massive on my wrist because of its 16mm thickness.

    Current:
    Omega "SkyFall" AT8500,
G-Shock GW-M5610, Citizen Blue Angels Skyhawk A-T Limited Edition (416 of 1000), Citizen Calibre 2100
    Past:
Omega Railmaster 2503.52, Omega PO 2201.50, Tag Heuer Carrera Heritage, Omega Speedmaster Professional (3870.50), Omega Seamaster 300M Chronograph (2225.80), Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean (2901.51.82), Citizen Chrono A-T Limited Edition (799 of 2500), Hamilton King Scuba Auto, Hamilton Khaki Pilot (46mm)

Yeah, I was concerned about the thickness. I've seen it listed in various places as either 14 or 15 mm. Either way, pretty beefy.

Interesting about the Pilot. I like that watch, but always assumed there was no chance of it not looking ridiculous on me.

It's not a question others can answer for you, because it is only your perception of what looks "too big" that matters. Those who presently own the watch will likely tell you it looks just fine - regardless of wrist size - because to their eyes, it does. You may look at the watch on their wrist and think it looks ridiculous.

I have about 7 1/2" wrists and feel that I can j-u-s-t get awat with the Jazzmaster chrono. I feel it wears quite large. My Pan-Europ, though, doesn't feel like it's pushing the ragged edge big-but-not-stupid-big. The reason is the short lugs - a factor so many overlook when assessing size in favor of case diameter and thickness.

    Good luck with your choice.

    Roger

My wrist is 7.25" and this watch fits very nicely for my wrist's shape. As mentioned, it is pretty thick, but I think what matters as much as the size, is the shape of your wrist. If it's pretty flat, the watch will prob look just fine.

Thanks for your responses everyone. I'm thinking I'll have to pass on this one until I have had an opportunity to try one on. As for now, the search continues!

Seems like you have made up your mind to wait until you can try it on. Good move. I was hot on one of these about 6 months ago, then turned my attention to more dive/sport watches. I was just able to try on one at the airport this week and I thought it looked great on my 6.25" wrist. BUT, it looks more sporty being big like that than classy/dressy. Its all in what you are looking for, as RogerP stated. I'll be keeping an eye peeled for one as a more dressy alternative to my 007. Try one on and you will know.
