First Hamilton: Aviation QNE or Field Officer

    Hi everyone,

I'm looking into picking up a Hamilton in the next month or so, and I've more or less narrowed it down to 2. The Aviation QNE H76515733
, and the Filed Officer H70615733. They're pretty similar watches, but they fit the style I'm looking for, casual, black dial, and black strap.

Can anyone post up some live photos please? Also if you could give me any info on quality comparisons, or pros/cons of these models I'd appreciate it. Lastly, if you think of anything else that kind of fits the same bill feel free to suggest it to me, I'm always open to discovering new watches. Thanks.

    QNE:

I'd go with the Officer, more clean and military look. But the QNE has a 2895 caliber if i'm not mistaken ,is based on 2892 which is a great movement and ranked as a better movement than 2824.

    Thanks for the replies!

Those pics are nice. I couldn't find anything except a couple blurry "live" pics, and the computer generated pic in the OP. Also, I agree about the clean dial of the Officer. That was what I liked about it in the first place. It's funny because the QNE is far more busy, but that's what I liked about that as well. The uniqueness of the dial, and case back.

I knew about the difference in movement, but I wasn't sure if one was considered superior to the other. Thanks for clearing that up for me. The QNE is naturally going to be smoother though because of the size difference in the second hand.

I owned (sold it) a black version of the Qne and it was ok. I have the Qne in cream right now and the Mechanical version of the Officer. For me difference is obviously the dial color so that's why I have both. If I had to pick between your 2 choices - I'm with Cypher on this one.... think I'd go with the Officer as I prefer the cleaner look on that black dial. The cream version of the Qne is in a class all by itself and I think it is the best version of the Qne line up. They all wear the same size wise. good luck.

Do you have a pic of it in the show your Hamiltons thread? I was thinking about a color other than black because pretty much all my watches are black dialed. Then again the reason for that is because I prefer the dark dials, and even though it sounds like a dumb reason, most of my clothes are black/grey/dark. But like I said I'm always open for suggestions. I never know what might make me go a direction I wasn't planning on going.

No, I have not posted a pic of the QNE. I'll try to get one posted here in the next day or so.

QNE was my first automatic and might still be my favorite watch. You won't be unhappy if you go that route.
