Question about setting date and time on Jazzmaster

I recently got a Hamilton Jazzmaster H38515735 and I have a question about setting the date and time on it. I'm a complete newbie to automatic watches, but I've been told that the crown should be always be turned clockwise to wind the watch as well as to set it. However, when I tried to set the date and time on my watch, turning the crown clockwise (or at least what I think is clockwise) did not move the date at all and it moved the watch hands go counter-clockwise. Turning the dial in the opposite direction worked for both the date and the time.

Is the crown on this particular watch supposed to be turned counter-clockwise? Or do I just have the directions all mixed up? My understanding is that "clockwise" means turning the crown away from me or in other words, when I'm looking at the crown face-on, the crown should be rotating clockwise. Is my understanding correct? Like I said, I'm a complete newbie to all of this. I just want to make sure I turn the crown in the right direction when I wind and set it in the future.

    TIA

To set the date: First click, turn counter-clockwise to advance the date.
To set the time: Second click, turn clockwise to advance the time.

I don't know whether or not it damges the watch if you set the time by turning counter-clockwise, but seeing as I'd only be setting the time if my watch stops it seems I can say I only turn it clockwise because I'm always catching up to time.

It's good to know that I'm at least setting the date correctly. I just set the time again this morning and I had to turn the crown counter-clockwise (towards me) to advance the time. Turning the crown clockwise moves the watch hands counter-clockwise. Is there a problem with the watch or am I still not getting something? :/

No you are doing it right, it was my mistake.
Counter-clockwise to advance the time too.
