I recently got a Hamilton Jazzmaster H38515735 and I have a question about setting the date and time on it. I'm a complete newbie to automatic watches, but I've been told that the crown should be always be turned clockwise to wind the watch as well as to set it. However, when I tried to set the date and time on my watch, turning the crown clockwise (or at least what I think is clockwise) did not move the date at all and it moved the watch hands go counter-clockwise. Turning the dial in the opposite direction worked for both the date and the time.
Is the crown on this particular watch supposed to be turned counter-clockwise? Or do I just have the directions all mixed up? My understanding is that "clockwise" means turning the crown away from me or in other words, when I'm looking at the crown face-on, the crown should be rotating clockwise. Is my understanding correct? Like I said, I'm a complete newbie to all of this. I just want to make sure I turn the crown in the right direction when I wind and set it in the future.
TIA
