I noticed the strap change the other day too! I saw a shot of a Baumuster B and thought that the grain of the leather and shade of brown were very different from my brown old style strap.
The strap in your link is mine and it is over a year old. I have 2 of them, both purchased at the same time and one is lighter than the other. The dark one is in the photo.
Hmmm, well there goes my theory. I thought it was different because it was newer and received in the second half of 2013. I got mine, the lighter one, in May of 2013. Were you curious when you received two of the same straps when they were actually different? Why did you get two?
I got 2 because they were on sale last year at Christmas. I also got one in 2010 that was the same shade as the lighter colored one. I didn't think anything about them being different shades. Leather, even the same color, can vary due to differences in the hides used.
No, I usually use the new style rivet strap. I have 3 of the old style, two brown and one black and almost never wear any of them. They are a bit long for my liking and the short old style is too short for my wrist.
The change in movements is rather more concerning to me. Can anyone verify that the bung standard movements are now in production? If that's the case, then I imagine it must be due to supply constraints.
Yes it is. I have a top grade in my Ikarus from 2012 and it is definitely Incabloc. Strangely, even the "Basis" movement on the Stowa website shows Incabloc. It is hard to tell from the rendering of the movement, but I can only find the Black Forest movement among the Fliegers showing Etachoc.
yes,so far I find only the TOP-COSC 2824 at the end of 2013 have Etachoc, the other 2824 are all Incabloc, and in Stowa FAQ it says the standard level is the second level(elaborate) of ETA,so it is correct.
I just find out the official pic for TOP-COSC 2824, it is Etachoc, so there have no agreement. but I'm still have some curiosity...
the brown strap which is shown was a special offer strap in the advent calender, no basic changes are done, this was a special edition of straps.
(if we change basicly something we do it like always, we would inform all customers before we do it, not after we have done , older STOWA customers know this already !!)
Eta delivers sometimes with Incabloc and sometimes with ETAchoc.
I'm no expert, but I look at the spring shape on the jewel bearing of the balance wheel.
Incabloc has the characteristic 2-point support. See modified picture below.
I think the main difference is from the watchmakers point of view it is hinged instead of removable and so easier to maintain (hopefully a watchmaker can correct me if I'm wrong on that one!)

I had thought, I guess wrongly, that Incabloc was an upgrade over the standard Etachoc. Looks like an opportunity for a few of us to learn some things.
According to ETA chart, Etachoc is used only on 2824 for Standard and Elaboré grades, everything else has Incabloc.
