    My first Stowa.

    First, some backstory.

About two years ago, when I first got into watches, I kicked around the idea of spending the money (maybe $600 at the time?) on a Stowa Antea KS. As I was a student, I decided to pass for a number of reasons (too dressy, too fragile, too expensive, beer is good, you get the picture).

Fast forward two years. My wife and I graduated in December and are, like so many people our age, still job hunting. The upside (?) is that my parents love us both, so we do have somewhere to live and relatively few bills (yay deferring loans!). I've been selling a lot of watches lately so I have a bit of money stored up in the watch fund.

I had really passed on the idea of owning a KS as I'm not much of a dress watch guy, though I always thought it would make a great casual watch on a single piece leather strap. I was also less than thrilled with the current price of the KS (~$700+shipping). I figured I needed something a little more versatile if I was going to spend that much money.

However... I am a longtime Seiko Alpinist owner and I recently bought a G-Shock for beating around in. And a beautiful black dial KS was on the sales forum. You can see where this is going.

Pulled the trigger this morning, the watch should be here Monday or Tuesday.

Not only is it my first Stowa, but my first German watch as well. So while I won't have it in time for the Germany/Greece match, I should have it in plenty of time for the next round of Euro 2012. Fingers crossed that Germany in still in it.

Shut your mouth and wear your Alpinist.
Note that "Your Alpinist" is metaphorical and in truth refers to your most versatile watch.

if I had to choose one watch to spend one year with. Just one watch, everyday. It will be a Stowa watch. It will be less painful.

Lahm has been in great form. But I have to admit I was most impressed with Reus today. Scheweinsteiger was in need of substitution without a doubt.
