OK took on my 1st attempt at a mod this weekend, swapping monster hands onto my 007. Read read and read some more, bought tools and a read some more, finally decided to give it a go. It looks much easier in the pictures. Ha! While I don't have shaky hands I've discovered when working with tweezers on something so small I have very shaky hands. I did however get the hands installed using a somewhat unorthodox method (well I haven't read about the method, it could be very well known among more experienced modders).
What I did was I took a little bit of rodico and rolled it into a little ball, i placed the rodico on the edge of the hand setting tool and basically speared (sounds harsh but it was not) the watch hands, being careful to line up the opening with the opening on the hand setting tool. that way i can just use the hand setting tool to line up the hands with the little nub coming out of the watch dial (not sure what this is called). this worked like a charm! Used the same method for the minute and seconds hands (seconds hands was surprisingly easy, i was very worried about that one). After i set each hand i used some rodico to remove any trace amounts of rodico that may have been left behind.
I would post pics and I'll try and snap some when I reset the hands again. Not thinking it would work I didn't take enough care to line them up correctly so the hour hand is slightly off when the minute hand is at 12. Waiting for the watch to run out of juice again so I can correct this.
Just thought I'd let you guys know what worked for me.
