Confused Is this a fake Seiko?

Hi I am brand new to watches and know nothing about them but I want to start collecting vintage watches.
I recently saw this watch in a junk shop window and even though it has been well loved and well worn I really liked its look so I bought it for the princely sum of £1.50 pence.
It has no battery in it so I need to get one and fit it too see if it actually works.
I have searched the internet looking for this watch and cannot find it anywhere. I have also looked through all the posts here on seiko watches and even though I saw lots of posts for H601 watches none of them looked like this one.
Does this mean this watch is a fake?

I have looked all over the watch and on the back found the following:

    WATER RESISTANT
    ST. STEEL BACK
    H601 - 5450 [A0]
JAPAN B then a kind of squiggle..
    899010
On the watch face: Japan H601 536 L R (Very tiny letters just above the dig readout window.)
    On Bracelet: B1688-F (ss)
On clasp SEIKO in rased letters and an SQ monogram.

I hope I can get this too work, I really like it and it looks quite vintage to me, I am curious if it might have some value as a vintage piece or have I bought a complete dud....
I would be very grateful for any info you can give me about this watch.
I know it may not have any value at all, but I would still like to know more about it if possible.
If it is a genuine Seiko, why can,t I find any on the net even in Ebay?
    Many thanks for any help,
    Dave.

Oh can I take this to a watch shop and get a battery for it? Will they have batteris for a watch this old?

    Hi Dave,
No insult to your watch intended here but it does not seem to be a high end Seiko watch you have purchased.
The only non high end seiko that was ever copied was the Seiko 5 automatic which was a favourite of ships crews in the far east.
I think you have got yourself a real bargain, not because the watch is an expensive one, more the fact that you seem to like it so much.
I think it would be well worth your time visiting the jewellers and spending a fiver on a new battery.
Try the little independant jewellers though as I have found they are a bit cheaper and they tend to know more about the watches.
All the best with your purchase
