    Seiko 6139-8050

    Hi!
This is my vintage that grandfather left me. It has been serviced a week ago (after 35-40 years, this is the first servicing!), and the repairman said that mechanism is in very good state. Before servicing it gained approximately half a minute per day (or even more), and after - less than one second! The only thing I need to do is to polish or replace crystal, but I doubt that I could find original, so I'll see what to do. Unfortunatelly, I don't have original steel bracelet, but it's OK, i prefer leather, although I might reconsider buying one (it's better for summer, to be honest).
PS. Sorry for my not so good English.

I have one question about stopwatch. I was told that I should keep second hand in 12h position, because if stopwatch runs continuously, it is not good for watch itself. Is this true? Because I like when second hand is running, when it's stopped watch looks somehow "dead".

    thx for sharing.
very nice watch...rare to see one of these with a dial in such good condition. Actually it is a model from the Japanese market, so I wonder where your grandfather got it.

You can keep the second hand running if you like. Obviously this will cause a little more wear to parts such as the center chronograph wheel.

The fact that it doesn't have a continuously running second hand is what most people miss about the Seiko automatic chronograph 6138/6139. Many other chronographs have an additional continuously running second hand.

Congrats for restoring your grandfather's watch.
