LACO celebrating the phasing out of the Kiel with a limited edition (25 pieces only)

The last Kiel – Limited Edition

In LACO's portfolio, the Flieger chronograph "Kiel" represented a somehow classical element for years (since 2011). Now LACO decided to discontinue the Kiel.

But not without a special treat for LACO afficionados lovers: A limited edition of only 25 pieces.

The "Kiel Limited Edition" is almost identical to its basic model, with a well-readable black dial in a stainless steel case with a diameter of 44 mm.
This is topped off with the color-matching black day/date wheels.

The ar-coated domed sapphire crystal warrants best readability of the clear luminous numerals and distinctive pointers.

The "KIEL Limited Edition" is fitted with the Swiss automatic work horse ETA 7750, a tried and tested classic of the watch industry.

The aviator style calfskin leather strap comes with rivets and a light stitching.

As a special feature, every "KIEL Limited Edition" is engraved with the individual number on the left case side.

WHY should anyone pay a premium of more than € 1.000,- for a watch they can get nearly everywhere (except of that L.E. engraving)?
Even an original and new LACO watch for € 690,-:
LACO Herrenuhr/Taucheruhr Automatik Eta Valjoux 7750 #473-gL schwarz Rotor gold | eBay

    That's a very ambitious pricing.......

Honestly Volker, what point do you want to make ? This ebay offer is not a Laco out of current production but 2010 in a 42 mm case. It is new old stock wihich is not held by Laco of course, it is a Laco by Lacher which is discontinued since long and exactly this model is offered on ebay for years now. Not fair and misleading to compare with a current Kiel though which btw features a 44mm case.

There's a sticky on "Laco by Lacher" btw.

The LE is +€200 campared to the discontinued Kiel. So that is the price difference which should be discussed here if deemed necessary.

Yes, that's exactly the same logo as is printed on their promotional-sign at their premise's entrance. Have a look at post #1:
    Was at Pforzheim last week...
    Pic was taken last week.

Probably I caused a misunderstanding: That watch from ebay is only one of many examples for nearly identical watches from other brands too for a price of about € 700,- upwards. It is a well known design, no new ideas - neither referring to the dial nor the movement.

No offense, but I don't know where LACO offers more value in this watch than other sellers do with their watches,

Sorry to say, an outdated company nameplate / logo on a building is one thing, a childish post the other.
Hanhart (still) and Stowa (for some time) also have/had their old logos / brandings on their buildings.

Re: LACO celebrating the phasing out of the Kiel with a limited edition (25 pieces only)

    Incoming...

Just picked up 1 of the 25. To me the Black day/date is a nice subtle touch and looks cleaner. It doesn't break-up the eye line when looking at it so to speak.

Had been looking at the Steinhart for that reason but IMO Laco has the heritage behind it. Its been argued to death, and they are nice pieces in their own right, but regardless of pricing, the Steiny just seems like more of an homage brand. Doubtful anyone but me will ever notice the difference but I'd rather buy once, cry once.

Plan on a brown pilot strap once it arrives...

Congratulations, the size (and thickness) prevented me to do so.
