    LACO Resale Question?

I am looking to pull the trigger on a new Pilot watch, I am really drawn to the Laco XL Type B, I don't know alot about the german watch world. I was wondering if the resale value is decent with these watches? I'm just don't want to lose my butt if I decide to move it at a later time. I have found an AD who is offering it for 799.00 again not sure if that is a decent price. Thanks

If you're afraid of resale value, don't buy any new watch period. Laco doesn't depreciate more or less than any other watches of its style/type IMO. YMMV of course.

The "AD" I found selling it for 799 does not seem to be an AD:

We buy all of our products from authorized dealers, and respected industry wholesalers/distributors; therefore we have no pricing restrictions. In turn, we pass the huge savings on to you.
    Our Watches:
    • are brand new, first quality, with all original parts and authentic.
    • have the original manufacturer’s serial numbers intact.
    • are not refurbished, factory seconds, or replica products.

    Ask your AD about warranty.

    Kind regards

Seems the only US AD in USA is Timequest?

i agree with the previous poster. unless you are purchasing a specific watch model from rolex, panerai, or patek; the value will go down. even with the brands i mentioned, there is no foolproof watch.

Don't buy it for the resale value, but always buy it just and only because you like it. Then it's always a good deal IMHO.

The old adage about watches is 'if you want to make a small fortune selling watches, start with a large fortune' Buy the watch because you like it not as an investment.

If you're so concerned about depreciation, which I think is an unwise thing to be concerned about with such an emotional purchase as mechanical wristwatches, try to find one second hand. Most of the depreciation will have occurred, and you'll be spared the brunt of it if you sell it later on.

It's been my experience that watches I bought (Sinn, Laco, Stowa) that were into their third or more year of life had pretty much reached a constant second hand value (excluding LE's and the like). Watches that I bought second hand (Sinn, Archimede, Laco) but were only in their first year of life still had some depreciation to go.

I agree with Wisbang. Buy it because you like it, not because it will preserve your wealth.

    Good Luck,

    Myron
