Miyota B arrival. "Made in Germany" gone. Question about mineral.

This being my first "real" watch I'm very impressed. I have a more wide 6 3/4" wrist and I think it's a perfect fit, except for the strap. It's loose brand new, and will only get worse as it's worn. I'm on the last notch. Can anyone confirm that this is the standard strap, or the "fat American" strap? I was thinking of getting a NATO strap to try out. Forgot to mention this is the 42mm version.

Just a heads up that only the brown strap is included, and the "Made in Germany" engraving on the back is not present. I seem to recall a thread somewhere mentioning Laco heeding some feedback about requests to remove the engraving. No idea why. I'm a little dissapointed it's not there. German engineering and craftsmanship is well known around the world!

I ordered mine off Amazon from a store called Long Island Watches. Received in a few days with no issues. They list the watch as only having 1 left in stock. However within a day of ordering they went from zero stock, back to 1 in stock. Clever guys...

Anyway, the thing is gorgeous. But I do plan on actually wearing it. Is there any sort of treatment for the mineral glass to help ward off scratching? How does the mineral stand up to long sleeve cotton/nylon/polyester? It's winter here so the face will definitely rub up against these materials.

Congratulations on the B-Muster Miyota. I have one as well (the JU52 version), which means it still has the "Made in Germany" on the dial and case back. I wear it as a beater and the mineral crystal still looks brand new, so I wouldn't be inclined to worry about it.

Saw the thread with the JU52 on the outside of your riding jacket. I have a very nice Dainese jacket that this watch will be perfect for. Also, I should have stated that the "made in Germany" engraving is gone from the BACK.

    Photos after Christmas...

About the pre-treatment of mineral glass...

I used to work in a bike shop, and we used a product called Plexus to clean and helmets and visors. It left a non-greasy coating that dirt/dust/bugs would attach to, instead of the optically correct plastic. It made it so much easier to clean. I'm wondering if this stuff is safe on mineral glass.

I keep reading this has the 821A movement. Every manual I read shows this as having a date feature. So now I am afraid I'm winding it incorrectly. I'm sure this has been addressed here but I can't seem to find it.

I've used Plexus, but didn't realise that one of its features was to leave a protective coating. Anyway, I think that you might be over-thinking the crystal question; it hasn't been an issue of any note here in the forum and there are plenty of Miyotas out there.

As for winding, I usually give it a few shakes back and forth to get the second hand started and then set the time. Providing you're not strapping it on as you go to bed, the auto feature will keep it running.
