    Giez-what does it mean?

Noobie here: Can someone tell me the origin of the word "Giez", what it means, and how it applies to a watch? What about a Giez makes it different from other watches in the Casio line?

    Many thanks, Andy

    Re: Giez-what does it mean?

You are not the first to ask such a question:

    What does "GIEZ" mean?

    GIEZ what does it mean

Some pretty creative ideas in there

But I think you'll find a good answer in here:

Silly Q: How do U pronounce "GIEZ"?

In the end, the obscurity of its origin (and even how to bloody say it!!) may add to its mystique ....

But they are very nice watches, a refined G, if there ever was one.

i always read it "geez", like keys with a "guh" at the front.

DougFNJ went to a Casio event last winter and posted this -

"Giez for many that may mispronounce it like myself is Gee - ES as in Gee-whiz and the letter S. This stands for G-Elegant Simplicity and was designed with the Military in mind with the Metal case, screwback design, as well as metal inserts."

Casio Event Part Deuce....The G-Shock portion of the evening

    From casio japan web site

    > G-SHOCK shock performance is intact. Brand with a form that is simple and elegant "GIEZ (ziiz)."
    > Essence, it means essentially "G-ESSENCE" and etymology.
I am sorry if you don't understand what I say, my English skills are really poor (bad).

Thanks Kumazo-san, I was looking for something like this. And to say it, "jee-zu" or in English, "Jeez". Or as Doug heard from the Casio America folks, "Jee-Es". Will there ever be an absolute???

Certainly "G-Essence" is the accepted definition.

    Ok that's clear now.

GIEZ is a favorite model. (All Metal CASE and Screw back)

    Re: Giez-what does it mean?

Hmmmm. I was pronouncing it as "guys". So, it's "Gee-Es". As in "gee, yes! I want one!"
;) Or, as in a car model name suffix. "GS". Grand sport.
