Lightbulb WUSSE - Case back discussion

    Hello fellow wussers,

I just wanted to open the question of case back. This is not design thread, neither is it voting thread, just a discussion...

The reason I am posting this thread is the fact, that Steinharts philosophy is to show only decorated movements. Also, IMHO, the undecorated automatic movement is not particularly sexy to look at and rather than showing some cheaply looking movement, I would prefer to stick to Steinharts philosophy and hide that automatic movement behind solid caseback with some realy nice engraving.

Simon is of the same opinion and we thought we could save us some time and skip such vote. What do you guys think?

I'm looking forward to a solid case back with the name of the special edition engraved on it. Perhaps the owner's names as well? Even for a small additional fee. I'm thinking along the lines of the Panerai PAM195 here....

I think you pretty much summed it up with going with a solid caseback. I wouldn't mind a decorative movement either but I also think we need to be mindful that the cost is in varying degrees a concern for many among us here.

I also think we should leave personalized engravings that are in addition to the 'standard' engraving (whatever that ends up being) as the responsibility of the purchaser other than perhaps making it possible for each purchaser to make their own arrangements and pay for it independent of the group order?

    Just my $0.02.

Another fan of the solid caseback with some nice special edition engraving on it.

I absolutely agree on the solid caseback - but whats the engraving going to be?
On the other hand - once we've found a good name I believe we also found what should be engraved on the back

A solid case back with an engraving of Proteus would seem a good idea, if we go with that name.

On a solid case back there would be room around the upper perimeter for:

    Watchuseek Members Special Edition

    Steinhart
