Lightbulb WUSSE - Name of the watch discussion

Another thread that is not a design nor voting thread, but only serves the purpose of discussing some theme, that will need to be decided sooner or later.
We all know, that WUSSE is just a work name, we do not want such ame to be engraved or printed anywhere on the watch, as it does not express anything understandable to anyone outside WUS forum.
So, at this moment, I have nothing particular in my mind, and I dont even encourage you to start throwing names around. I would like to start a discussion about a motives to give this watch some name.
We have already decided that this is not a themed watch, but should it be "nameless"?
Omega Planet Ocean, Corum Admirals Cup, Rolex Submariner, Steinhart Triton, Tag Heuer Carrera, Graham Chronofighter, Panerai Radiomir, Poljot Aviator, Seiko Orange Monster ... every watch has a name, these names usualy tell something about the watch, something about what the watch is representing.

So what does this watch represent in your mind, or what it could represent and why?

Re: WUSSE - Name of the watch discussion

At this moment, I think that this watch should be named after a time, something connected to a time flow, movement, force, neverending life cycle. I have a name in my mind, but I will keep it for myself until I hear your thoughts...
Maybe you can come out with much better ideas, something that will distinguish this watch as a real WUSSE unique watch. But on the other hand, this watch does not neccesarily must reflect WUS forum. Later on, people will know that this watch came from WUS members, even if the watch is named completely WUS free.

Since Steinhart is a German maker, perhaps the Zwei B-Uhr (dual (time) watch) would be appropriate as it is a GMT watch? The "B-Uhr" ties in nicely with the existing Steinhart line...

That is an interesting idea, but does not B stand for Beobachtung (translated to english Observing, observer or something like that)? And this is not a beobachtung Uhr, right?
    But I like the idea...

Re: WUSSE - Name of the watch discussion

I was thinking, this watch is powered by kinetic energy of the weight, it measures time and time is still flowing, it keeps its own pace, thus has its own kind of energy, this watch will be heavy and thus will have some solid kinetic energy, and the word kinetic is already taken, besides, I dont like it that much for this watch, but what about the word

    MOMENTUM or MOMENTUS

    ?

Think of it, momentum, momentum, momentum...Momentus... Momentus is kinda monumental, magnificent, colosal word, sounds good to my ears.

Now I am throwing names around, but I have also provided reasons for the name...

my opinion to play with name of Steinhart line (and designer of this project) would be interesting - kind a "TRITON" WUSSE edition
Jaeger LeCoultre, Revue Thommen, Полет-75, Steinhart Nav B-Uhr II Premium, Steinhart Ocean One, Steinhart Marine Chronometer II, Seiko Sportura SPC039P1, Getat "Паныряй" - edition №01/39, Getat homage 1109-01....to be continued

our watch is based on the Steinhart Triton - a name that originates in greek mythology, so why not choose something similar ?
I had look around and found Hyperion (god of light - we will have a watch with intense lume ) or Kronos (a god associated with time) quite interesting and appealing.
I haven't checked though if the names are taken already for something else - we certainly don't want any copyright infringements

Hmmm, I like where you're heading littlenick!

I wold throw the name Proteus out there:

"In Greek mythology, Proteus (Πρωτεύς) is an early sea-god, one of several deities whom Homer calls the "Old Man of the Sea"[1], whose name suggests the "first", as protogonos (πρωτόγονος) is the "primordial" or the "firstborn". He became the son of Poseidon in the Olympian theogony (Odyssey iv. 432), or of Nereus and Doris, or of Oceanus and a Naiad, and was made the herdsman of Poseidon's seals, the great bull seal at the center of the harem. He can foretell the future, but, in a mytheme familiar from several cultures, will change his shape to avoid having to; he will answer only to someone who is capable of capturing him. From this feature of Proteus comes the adjective protean, with the general meaning of "versatile", "mutable", "capable of assuming many forms". "Protean" has positive connotations of flexibility, versatility and adaptability." (from Wikipedia)

As a son of Poseidon, Proteus was a brother to Triton, so a nice tie in there. The symbolic link to versatility is another good thing for a sport watch such as the WUSSE. We could use a seal as the image on the case back, since Proteus was the sheperd of Poseidon's seals....

Great, really great. I like not only the name, but also the story and the tie to the Steinharts Triton serie.
    Really great! Thank you!

Triton and Proteus, excelent! And the idea of having a seal on the case back is wonderfull as well!
