GO Senator Calendar Week VS JLC Ultrathin Moon VS IWC Portifino 8 Day Power Reserve

    HI,

I am a novice to fine watches and hope the forum can help guide me in choosing a watch to receive as a wedding gift.

I am debating among the GO Senator Calendar week, the JLC Ultrathin Moon and the IWC Portifino 8 Day Power Reserve.
All feature in-house movements with the former 2 being automatic and the latter being a manual wind.
Case diameter is 40 mm for the GO, 39 mm for the JLC and 45 mm for the IWC.

I am most interested in a classic styled dress watch that will age gracefully with me...I'm in my mid-30s now.

I would appreciate any input regarding the above 3 watches as well as any other watch options in this price range.

    Many Thanks,

If u want v classic, go JLC ...! If u wish for a touch of versatility, u could take IWC bearing in mind that its 8 day movt does count lower than JLC and GO in it's finish and timekeeping ... Personally, for that monii, I would be looking at JLC master control chrono or GO navi worldview ..

Just to give people a visual sense of the watches we're talking about here, these are some nice photos of the candidates.

    Glashutte Original Senator Calendar Week

    Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultrathin Moon

IWC Portofino 8 Day Power Reserve

For me, I like the clean, elegant dial of the JLC Ultrathin Moon, the other watches just seem a bit busy in comparison. The big date and big month on the GO dominates the dial too much for a classically styled dress watch, and the 45mm size of the IWC prevents it from serving as a dress watch in any capacity.

Classy look wise JLC. But I will take IWC as I love manuals. =)

I love GO watches but I would not purchase the calendar week unless you have a specific need to know the calendar week. Some industries such as auto manufacturing rely on calendar weeks. Stick with complications that are useful to you.

They are all beautiful watches but my pick would be the JLC. It is timeless elegance pure class!

Glashutte makes some beautiful watches, however, JLC still has the lead. I especially like the Ultra Thin moon. This a great watch and one of the best dress watches out there right now.

    Thanks guys for your input.
Thanks also to mleok for uploading the photos of the watches.

Although I generally like the look and size of the GO, I have no need for the calendar week complication, and for that reason I too am favoring the JLC.

Are there any others you would recommend in this price range?

    Thanks Again,
