    My Grandfather's Patek

This was my grandfather's Patek Philippe that is now in the possession of my father. Years ago my father decided the band was too small, and put this Rolex style solid gold bracelet on it (not my cup of tea). He had it fully serviced not that long ago.

Can anyone tell me anything about the watch itself...what the model is called....decade it was made. It appears the case back is plain.

    Hi Ed,

Are you certain that's not the original bracelet ?

    check here.... Sale N° 1812 - Fine Jewellery & Watches | Artcurial | Briest - Poulain - F. Tajan
Scroll down there's a very similar one.

    I think it's a valuable 1950's Patek. The design is more 50s than 60s.
    Look's like a 1950 Calatrava

    Have you opened it ?

I am positive. My dad (actually my step dad) is a big guy and he said the original bracelet was too thin for him. My guess is that it was like the one in the link you posted (with the little squares). My dad knows nothing about watched and probably wanted something to make it look like a Rolex.

I have not opened it. My dad would shoot me. I will have to ask him more details when I see him next. Maybe he received some info from Patek when he had it serviced.

I think my grandfather wore it on a leather strap, which is how I would wear it :)

This one has a gold seconds hand. It's from the 1950's. You should search for "Patek 2508"

I have only seen that dial on a 2508 Calatrava. Circa early 50's, 34.75mm, screwback, anti-magnetic cover over a cal. 27SC movement. Here's mine
