Chrono 24, who claim to be the world’s most popular online marketplace for high quality luxury watches, is organising the world's first auction selling tourbillon timepieces with a total worth of two million Euros. The auction is organised in partnership with online art and auction house Auctionata, and it’s likely to be one of the most exciting auctions in the luxury watch industry.

The online auction will take place on 8 November 2013 at 6 pm CET and is streamed live from Auctionata's TV studio in Berlin. Auctionata offers all the services of an art and auction house working 100% online. The company offers evaluation, appraisal, authentication and marketing of precious objects, along with all associated logistics.

Together with Auctionata, we are offering 29 lovely pieces to watch-lovers and investors – these watches have some of the most stable values in the history of watchmaking. From our point of view, a live auction via internet streaming is the only type of auction appropriate to Chrono24. ” Tim Stracke, co-CEO of Chrono24.

This is the first time that the global marketplace for luxury watches, with an inventory of over 150,000 watches, is entering the auction business.

Dr. Oliver Hoffmann, curator of the auction and director of the Watch Department at Auctionata, will provide expert commentary on the watches live in the TV Studio seated next to the auctioneer: “I want to use this first auction in cooperation with Chrono24 to bring the fascination with complex watches alive.” Said Dr. Hoffmann.

“The event means a great start to upcoming Chrono24 watch auctions which will take place along various themes in the future.” Alexander Zacke, CEO of Auctionata.
