Up close with the Kari Voutilainen Vingt-8

The Vingt-8 is Kari's replacement for the Observatoire with an unusual dual direct escapement. Finishing is top notch as expected. Balance wheel is 13.6 mm, very large, and exhibited by a straight bridge like that found on tourbillons. I'm unsure of the aesthetics of the bridge, it seems exaggerated and throws off the movement visual balance in my opinion. But the quality of the calibre is impeccable.

That movement's breathtakingly stunning ... great photos too!

I kind of see what you mean by the design being thrown off by that balance bridge ... a traditional balance cock blending with the movement plates (and machined German silver like the plates) might have looked more harmonious.
