    Assistance with attribution

Dear gentlemen! I’m clocks and wrist watches collector from Russia.Questions to your respectable collector’s community regarding two subjects.First one:I have a clock which looks like ships clock. No doubts re country of origin (English made by Henry Browne & son),but I have some doubts-is it ships or not, because so much bigger, then usually English made ships clocks i.e. Smith(for my Henry Browne's clock approximate dimensions in mm. 315x270x110);no locking system for glass window frame;and no sign “Sestrel” usuall for Henry Browne timepieces.Could you help me in attribution of designation for this clock-is it really ships clocks, and if possible-period when it was made.Clock’s and movement images are attached.
Another one-“Smith 8 day” ships clock.Only one question-about time of manufacturing of this clock-even approximately.Unfortunately Smith's movement image not available now,but it’s Astral movement. One strange thing- (back plate and case ring for window glass frame made from brass but middle part of case made from steel, all covered by nickel(may be WWII’ times-lack of brass?).So,any your opinions highly appreciated. Thanks and regards!

To me a ships clock is one that is designed to be used on a ship where it may get bumped into, subjected to continual motion, exposed to salty air and water, etc., while also remaining accurate. In other words to remain functioning in such a hostile environment the clock should have a very substantial movement with a strong metal case that can be solidly affixed to a wall and the case and bezel are designed to keep moisture out.

Your clock looks like many others that have the good looks and appearance of a ships clock but are designed to be used at home or possibly on a house boat.

That's my opinion, but those with more knowlege about ship clocks may have more information.
