    Would Love an Identification

    Hello all,

Could someone help me in identifying this clock? This was my grandmother's and it has been sitting all of these years. Obviously isn't ticking but I also do not want to mess with it. Looks like there are the initials LFS and a number 15 on the movement but nothing on the clock face. I would appreciate any feedback.

    thank you,

    -ecotrin

Movement seems to be made by Lorenz Furtwängler & Söhne in Furtwangen/Germany.

It is a time only pendulum clock that I would guess to originate around 1920 or so. The dial strikes me as a possible replacement because the brass looks new. The only way to further identify the model name woild be from a manufacurers catalog. Reprints of catalogs for the large USA companies are common. I am not aware of a source for smaller German companies. You might try a German clock collecting group or the NAWCC. I am quite confident that your clock could be set running again with a cleaning reoiling and timing. A movement like that would be a good starter project for a clock repair class if one is available Otherwise have it worked on by a clock repair shop.

Thank you for the information. Where is a good place to search for a clock repair class in or around NYC? Can you recommend some good mechanical clock repair websites for parts and information???

Hi. Check with the nawcc as well as the adult school programs run through the public school system.
