Usually those sprays have petroleum products in addition to the silicone. Do not use anything that has petroleum products as they will turn any rubber gasket into a goo.

Concur, it's in the other thread, but important to note!

Hi all. Long time lurker. Second time to post - probably had it in the wrong spot before.

I am considering the purchase of the Blue Mako but have a concern about the durability of the bezel. The WUS reviews I've read mention the bezel alignment and difficulty in turning but no durability.

I have owned a couple of sub homages in the past and have been disapointed with how easily the bezel paint scratches and chips. What can I expect with the Mako?

    Thanks!

PS Please forgive the noob mistake if this is posted to the wrong thread.

In terms of bezel alignment, the bezel insert has machined indexes in the bezel that should align perfectly with the indentations in the bottom of the bezel itself. In my opinion bezel alignment issues can stem from two sources, misprinting on the bezel insert itself, and alignment issues with machining the bezel. If there is an alignment problem I think it would be very difficult to fix without replacing the bezel insert. (or the bezel itself it it was machined improperly). That being said, neither of my Makos has an alignment issue. Buy from Amazon they have a very easy return policy.

Difficulty in turning seems to be apparent in many of the Makos. There is a thread on this list... read fully to understand. It's relatively easy to fix and is the common solution for tight bezels for many watches btw...

For all you with tight Mako bezels...

one reason to pick one over the other is the lack of lume on the second hand.
if i was diving, i would want to make sure my watch was ticking o.k.!
dolphin for the win if you're actually diving!

I haven't gone diving in the dark lately. Hawaii is to freaking bright for me to see lume under water... :D

I don't think the pole is silly and even if they are 100 dollar watches some people don't have disposable income to just by both. comparing the two and deciding then is always a wiser purchase.

My recomendations would be to compare two watches of different makes in or about the same price and classification.

I just received a blue Mako, beautiful color on the watch. I like the style a lot and always thought the pictures looked good too. I think it will see a lot of wrist time along with the Invicta 9937. If another good sale comes up, I can see a Dolphin or Orange Mako in my future too. Just to get some variety

I know where youre coming from. I'm almost disgusted by the hands on the Dolphin. I don't know what it is but I'm not a big fan. If Orient sent me a Dolphin for giving the hogrider an alias (``The Big Mak'') as a belated prize I'd be opening it up and be putting new hands on it. Anyone know if 7S26 hand sets fit the Dolphin (or the Mako)?
