New Member: Advice with Vintage LeCoultre

    Hi All,

I came across a vintage LeCoultre (link below) recently and I'm a little bit puzzled. It seems to have been posted on just about every watch forum out there and has been for sale for a little while. So my question is, why is it still available? I'm new to this, so I figure I must be missing something and just don't know what. Any opinions would be appreciated.

I apologize if the below link is against the rules...

Late 1950's Vintage LeCOULTRE Calibre 480 w/Original Black Dial & "Claw" Lugs! | eBay

    Thanks,
    John

Re: New Member: Advice with Vintage LeCoultre

I don't know vintage lecoultre watches that much but 33mm watches are a little on the small side these days so that hurts the value. there always seems to be a divide in pricing when watches are less than 34mm vs bigger than 34mm (exactly 34mm can go either way). also the photos aren't very clear. they aren't clear enough to see if there is anyplace the gold filling has worn through. nor are they clear enough to tell what thoose spots on the dial are, patina, bubbling, scatches or what. So buying this watch would be a gamble and even if everything turns out to be good you have got a watch worth right about what you paid and if it doesn't you could end up an over priced junker.

the dial is in very average condition, the movement looks fine but I am not sure if it has been serviced. I would stay away from it because buying a jlc on ebay it can be like holding a double edged sword
