Newbie needs help: Is this a decent discount (london)?

Hi there,

I was hoping someone might be able to help me with my first major watch purchase.

I have narrowed down my search to the JLC Master Compressor Chronograph 2. I am looking at buying this watch from an AD in London.

My problem is this - I am not great at haggling on price, in fact, I'd say I'm downright terrible. :(

The MSRP is £7,050. I have been able to get one AD to agree to £6000 and he has stated that this is the lowest he can go - this marks about a 15% discount. Upon reading watch forums though, people keep insisting that 20%+ discounts should be normal?

What do you all think? I would love to hear your collective wisdom.

Problem with buying it in the UK is the 20% VAT. So the price will always be higher than buying it from lets saying chrono24.. But then you have the peace of mind from buying it from a local AD...

That sounds pretty good to me. On all my major watch purchases in London I have achieved between 10-18% discounts depending on the brand and the location. The places that gave the bigger discounts are no longer operating.

Price is looking perfectly fair to me. This is a nice watch you're having in ming. I just got the exact very same one yesterday, it's such a beauty !
