    My $6 DIY Watch Dresser/Storage

Hi WUS, I'm a very new watch enthusiast and have only started building a "collection" this summer. As any collection grows, a place to keep them becomes very important!

I've been looking at watch boxes but hated the idea of having another thing on top of my already cluttered dresser. That's when I had the idea to use the hidden jewelry drawer built into the dresser.

First I had to remove the cloth liner as it was damaged from what was previously in it. Then off to buy materials.

I let my son choose the color of the felt to go with, luckily he chose a good color. A total of $6 between $3 in felt(with adhesive backing) at the local arts/crafts store and $3 worth of rulers at Walmart.

With just a handheld dremel and scissors, I was able to fit everything easily. Using rulers made life easy as measuring and cutting was super easy just using the markers on the rulers as guides. Also cut notches in the rulers to let them slide into each other like a locking puzzle. None of the cuts look pretty but the felt does a good job of hiding it.

Well, I was super happy with the results, I didn't even glue anything in, everything is held in by pressure. I can make adjustments or new compartments easily, very modular design. Let me know what you guys think!

lol that's what I'm afraid of... as of right now I have no open slots, unless I clear out the strap slots or condense, or add more dividers! I have to try to keep it within a limit

Nice job! Did you put slots in the box itself and that's what's holding the rulers in place running from to back? If that's not what did you do to prevent them from flipping flat?

the ones with dividers are slotted in with each other. The rest are held in by pressure. I cut the rulers pretty well exact but they did not stand up on their own, once I added the felt it has just enough thickness that it stays in place firmly but can be moved at will.

I assume this is a drawer so would be easy to throw out socks that live beneath and make into a second watch drawer?

*edit* I know its a drawer I just opened my mouth without thinking!*

lol it's all good, you can even see it in my last pic. The small drawer itself is somewhat hidden within the big draw. If you wanted to get fancy you can put winders in the regular drawer
