Quick question about the DW-6900MC-7A. Where was it made? Thailand or Japan?![]()
From my post above:
"There are a few notable things about this DW-6900. First is the engraving on the case back. It simply says "Japan M" as the only reference to manufacturing location. This is interesting, as this G-Shock is sold in the US, where the manufacturing location is normally put on all such merchandise. You could infer that this G-Shock was made in Japan, and obviously not made for sale in Japan."
You would think that someone at Casio would figure this out on there own
BB you should send them your before and after pictures. It would be easy for them to pump out a batch of these and I have to believe they would be big sellers.
Although your "one of" would lose it's cache
Excellent work, Mike
This is so damn cool man!![]()
When you swapped case/bezels for the 6900, does the crystal face and the watch itself stay intact as a whole?
Or must the watch crystal separate from the module itself?
I want to try this myself, but I don't want to introduce dust under the crystal.
(Edited)
G-Shocks have 3 basic components. The case, the bezel and the strap. The case holds the crystal, LCD, module, light, battery, buttons, etc. The bezel is simply a protective cover for the case, that does not effect water resistance. And the strap is..... the strap.
All that I had to do for this modification was to stealth the bezel and swap the bezel and strap. The bezel is removed via 4 tiny screws. The strap is attached via 2 spring bars. The case was never compromised in any way. The bezel and strap swap is a very easy and basic modification.
Buzzbait,
So what you're saying is that the case is a whole unit that can be separated from the bezel without needing to separate the crystal from the rest of the "guts" (and introducing visible contaminants)? That's the best news I've heard all day.
It does sound pretty simple.
I had an old Alti-Baro ALT6100 years ago. It's not a G, but I do recall goofing around and discovered the bezel and the crystal were one piece. Somehow, my brain locked into this mode where I just assumed all G's were like this.
"Donor" 6900 question:
If I wanted to get the nicer, higher contrast LCD DW6900 (Japan, non-China), would any non-basic black model do? Or specifically this "marbled" white/gray model that you bought?
