    Question LW Strap Length?

I'm thinking about picking up my first LW (The One) from Martin Pulli, but I'm concerned about the strap length. I have a ~8" wrist and with my Panerai I wear a 125/85 strap. So, I was wondering if anyone with big wrists had any problems with the LW straps. Looking at the design I'm sure trying to get an after market strap made would be a PITA. Anyway, any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
    Cheers,
    Rob

    Re: LW Strap Length?

Don't think you'll have any problems. My wrist is slightly smaller, ~7.5" but i've still got quite a fair bit of strap to go.

If it's possible I reckon the best would be to try it on before you get it...

In any case, you'll be more than happy with your LW!

    Re: LW Strap Length?

    Hi Willith,

I don't think you will have a problem with the straps, they are fairly long and should be fine on your wrist, you might be on the last hole or two but that will be fine.

Not sure if you can get can an aftermarket one made, have you had a close look at the straps? They have the thread attachment in the strap so not sure if someone could do this... probably an idea of the people at LW so that everyone cannot go out and buy lots of straps from other manufacturers!

Suggest you try it on... or even order the try me free set from LW to see? Either way the great guys and gals at LW will look after you.

    Cheers

    Re: LW Strap Length?

Thanks for the repiles, but to be honest it doesn't make me feel anymore comfortable. I don't like to wear my watches on the last hole. It was the reason I had a B&R BR02 for less than 2 weeks, I had to wear it on the last hole of the strap, which means the floating keeper is really floating around and i hate wearing my watches really tight on your wrist.
As for custom straps, if there's a demand for them the strap makers will make them for us. The same was true for the BR02, it took a little while, but you can find them on the market not too. Most of them will make custom straps for you, they just need an example to follow and they will get to work. Everyone likes money.
    Cheers,
    Rob

    Re: LW Strap Length?

    Hi Willith,

I also have an 8" wrist and tried The One, with a brown tracked calf strap, for 5 days free. Like you I don't like wearing my straps on the last hole and I don't like it to tight to.

With the test watch I could wear it comfortably on the 2nd last hole.

    Re: LW Strap Length?

    Willith,

I would order a trial like Michelangelo and see for yourself how it fits... it is free! I can understand what you are saying about using the last hole.

If you like the rubber straps, they do these in extra length and I have had one around the wrist of a drysuit... and that is more than 8"!

On the custom made straps, I just don't think you could get the numbers together to have these made. Whereas with AP's, B&R's, etc it is just a matter of getting them to cut the leather in a certain way, with the LW's it is a bolt which is stuck into the leather at a certain angle and reproducing this would be a mammoth task. I attach a quick pic I have taken on my phone incase you have not seen them closeup.

Thumbs Up Re: LW Strap Length?

Thanks everyone for the great responses! I was looking at the 5 day trial thing and I may have misread something, as I read it i thought it said I would be responsible for shipping at 80€ each way. So, I thought that I would be out ~$300 if i didn't like the watch.
I'm not a fan of rubber straps at all, so that was one concern for me with the length of the rubber straps. The AD I'm working with also has a bracelet that i can get, might be worth consideration.
Andrew thank you for the picture of the strap end. It does look more complicated to duplicate than regular straps, but I'm confident when there's money involved the guys in Asia will find a way.
Anyway, thanks again for all the help, i really appreciate it. If anyone with a 8" wrist wants to post a wrist shot I would appreciate that too. Keep the replies coming, you all are convincing me I might have to give LW a try.
    Cheers,
    Rob

Well, thanks for all the help and information. It looks like I'll be ordering The One black dial and getting it with the rubberized calf, black textile strap and the bracelet too. I'll have to post some pictures when I get it next week.

    Re: LW Strap Length?

Wow, now you have me really excited about the new purchase. I mean I was excited before, but it's good to hear that I made some good choices based on internet pictures and recommendations from the AD. Looking forward to maybe getting it by the end of this week.
