The Singapore Grand Prix takes place on the weekend of September 20-22.

Hublot has now decided the time is right to award Singapore its very own set of limited edition Big Bang Ferrari timepieces. As with other Big Bangs developed as a tribute to Formula 1 venues, the timepiece fuses design that is the DNA of both Hublot and Ferrari: that of innovation, performance, technology and exclusivity.

The Singapore Big Bang Ferrari will exclusively be available at luxury watch retailer The Hour Glass. The watch will be unveiled for the first time at The Hour Glass’s first pop-up store held at Paragon’s main atrium – Super Machines and Horological Heroes from September 18.

The exhibition will be held in conjunction with the 2013 Formula One Singtel Singapore Grand Prix™, the world’s first Formula One’ night race held on Marina Bay Street circuit.

The watch comes in a shade of distinctive red with red sapphire crystal glass housed in a black ceramic case, red hours, minute indexes on the dial and a red-on-black rubber and Schedoni leather strap with red stitching. Red and white form the national colours of Singapore but is also Ferrari’s signature colour.

With only 50 numbered timepieces available, the case back of the watch also features the Ferrari Prancing Horse.

The 45mm Big Bang Ferrari Singapore Limited Edition houses a black ceramic case with a cylindrical bezel that dramatically showcases the in-house flyback chronograph UNICO movement visible through the sapphire dial.

The UNICO movement was selected, then designed and developed in-house by Hublot to power the Big Bang Ferrari. The movement has 330 components, and the column wheel and dual horizontal coupling appear on the dial. The movement has 72 hours of power reserve, and is water resistant to 100 metres.

An indexed crown (with Hublot’s ‘H’ logo automatically positioning itself to remain in line) features elongated push buttons, fixed along a rotating axis like the pedals in a car whilst carbon inserts give the case distinctive look.

Each timepiece will come with two interchangeable straps, in red or black Schedoni leather stitched onto black rubber, with an innovative quick-change system inspired by the safety seatbelt mechanism.

The tone on tone stitching reflects the signature upholstery craftsmanship typical of Ferrari.

There is only very little Singapore DNA in the watch, but as it contains the word 'Singapore' in the title, the 50 pieces available are likely to be snapped up at Formula 1 speeds.
