HELP! Authenticity Opinions Needed PO 8500

Hello All, I'm a long time lurker, first time poster, Thanks in advance for your help.

I just purchased my first Omega and would love your feedback on my purchase.

I am on the fence on this one, Helium valve looks off, but not sure if im just being paranoid.

The Omega logo looks like it has tips....

    Thanks again.

All I know with regards to authenticity for this watch is that on the real watch, the helium valve will be placed slightly north of the 50 minute mark. If it lines up exactly with the 50 minute mark, then it is counterfeit. (Read this elsewhere on the Omega forum).

I can't tell very well from the pictures, but I hope it helps.

I am now second guessing whether the HE valve tip off was for this watch, or for the SMP Bond - maybe another WIS member can clear this up.

    Sorry for the confusion.

Modern Omegas really aren't my thing, but I would be positively shocked if the fakers were putting out a replica movement that looked that good. I think you're ok.

I think that He placement is across the board. You can register on Omega's website and email them the serial number and they can tell you the basic information about the watch. Also if you have an AD or Boutique near, drop by and have them give it a once over.

Re: HELP! Authenticity Opinions Needed PO 8500

Looks 100% genuine to me and identical to my PO8500 42mm. Regarding the HE escape valve it is located to the right side of the 50 marker on PO's with the older 2500 movement but exactly inline with the 50 marker on the 8500 model. The movement looks correct even down to the silicone balance spring... if it were a fake this would not be silicone but metal. Another way to check the movement is to test the power reserve - wind it fully and see how long it lasts; if it goes for 50+ hours you know the movement is genuine as a fake (even a very good one) will stop in less than 42 hours as they don;t have a twin barrel.

If you need further help drop me a PM!
