In addition to the above comments The lume on the hour markers has be puzzled - it doesn't look like natural ageing becuase parts of the markers are too white for my liking

I've never seen such bracelet... folded links should be flat, plus endlinks are weird too.
Any picture of the clasp? What's written in the clasp?

About the lume on the hour markers, I guess it's ok, some tritium has gone.
I have to refrain from putting WTB verbiage in my signature...

    Re: Omega Moon watch?

They wouldn't let me open it but they said with as authenticated at their corporate office. Here is the info they have in their system.
    Serial number: 35579853
    145.02269-ST
    C861

The serial number is from about 1977 correct?
The bracelet still concerns me. All it has on it is Omega, the symbol and Stainless Steel.

would the movement from 1977 be in this case? Isn't the 69 a reference to the date 1969? I'm still learning!

If the case-back says 145.022 69-ST then it could be a case-back pulled from the parts bin that was never used previously, or a case-back from another watch. A service replacement case-back would have 145.0022 as the numbers (an extra 0).

I have a 1976 Moonwatch with a 39 million serial from 1979 and a case-back from 1974. Omega has confirmed the watch was made in 1976, and the author of "Moonwatch Only" has told me he's seen 1976 watches with a 39 million serial number. Omega would make many case-backs or movements at one time, and not use them in any particular order, so sometimes things could be a few years apart.

I admit that a 1977 movement and 1969 case-back are farther apart than I would expect. See if the gentleman that runs speedmaster101.com can help?

Also, another way to help confirm the age without spending $90 or so on an extract of the archives from Omega would be to see the movement and determine if it has a Delrin brake or a metal brake, as Delrin should place it after 1975 (I think).

    Re: Omega Moon watch?

Based on the dial, the reported serial, and the case back, I say this is a 145.022-74.
I have never seen a -69 with a stamped medallion engraved case back so I suspect the “Head office” is simply making a mistake allocating the “69” on their reference.
The watch has been polished quite heavily, and lost the brushed finish on the sides.
The pusher tubes look new, so I suspect it has had some sort of service, although by an incompetent because the hands are not correct for the reference. (Perhaps from the Mk series).
The bracelet is a generic replacement and I would not factor it into a valuation.
    The dial is attractive.

So how much to pay for an over-polished, incorrectly serviced head?
    That’s up to you!
Go to the price chart, and take the condition you think it is, (I think running) and deduct for each problem.

    Price Chart | Speedmaster101

1850, less $120 for new hands.
Don’t forget that the watch may not be serviced to standard and if it needs one then that’s $600. At least you could change the hands and give the case a light refinish at the same time.

Here is a nice example of a 145.022-78. This one has a smooth or domed dial, whereas the OP watch has the stepped dial - more attractive.
Note the (correct) hand shape, especially at the tips, compared to the OP watch.

They are letting me buy it for $1,405. I think that is a good deal. I'll have 7 days to check it out. We have a local Rolex dealer that use to deal with Omega's that I'm going to have open it up. I will take some pics. Any other thoughts?

An independant will do a good service with mew mainspring and crystal for $300, or at least mine will, which includes a gentle cleaning and mild polish while leaving the deep marks and lines sharp.

The omega services touch up the case so that it looks like it did when it left the factory. That is what their video states. Anybody have experience with a case in the same of this one have it rebrushed by omega?
