OMEGA SEAMASTER 120 QUARTZ - FAKE? Lume is weak!!

    hi guys!
Just bought this Seamaster 120m quartz and would like to know if it could be fake.
I bought from a known person in my city, and I did tons of research on this model. It looks original to me... but ONE thing seemed strange: I put the watch under the sunlight (and camera flash!) and went to a dark room to see the lume. It didn't shine as my seamaster 300 does. What does this mean? It's a 1993 watch...don't now if that matters.... my seamaster 300 is a 1998 watch and the lumes shines a lot! Thanks a lot!

A 1993 watch would have tritium to excite the lume. That type of lume doesn't glow very well if tritium is absent. Tritium has a half life of about 12.3 years, so in the 24 years since the watch was made, you'd have virtually no tritium left to make the lume glow. The lume dots also look like aged tritium lume.

Wow! Thank you for giving so many details! It totally makes sense!!! Didnt know any of that.

And what about the watch in general? Would you say it seems legit? Thanks again!

Easiest way to know for sure? Crack the case and examine the movement. Looks great to my eyes, and the tritium has a half life of 12 years...so after 24 years it has cycled photons and drained to approximately .15% of original brightness. If it's a quartz? You'll see a cal. 1538 movement. Nice watches.

Another instant method? Pawn shops now have gold scanners which do not require scraping. No counterfeiters would install the clasp logo in 18k. If that's gold? That's authentic.

I just did an eBay search and found 4 other 120s with the same dial minus the "T", so perhaps not? (Or there are a helluva lot of identical counterfeits out there.)
