Speedmaster Pro's in Istanbul and Japan respectfully

    Considering this one.
VINTAGE OMEGA SPEEDMASTER PROFESSIONAL MOON WATCH CHRONOGRAPH 861 CALIBRE RARE! | eBay

    Or this one
OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moon Watch 3570.50 Cal,1861 Box and Papers | eBay

I have to go with a pre owned one. After getting into watches I have decided on a speedy pro. Just trying not to get burned.
Thanks for your help. I hope to be knowledgeable enough some day to help someone out too.

looks like you missed out on the first one. someone has just got a bargain speedy. i would get a bid in on the other one pdq if you want a nice example at a realistic price.

Who are the "three" sellers I have seen mentioned when referring to buying used speedmaster pros?

Both of those are the real deal. The replicas have yet to get the speedy dials right. You will always be able to tell by the dial spacing. I have only seen the professionals replicated(or should I say attempt to replicate) They don't replicate the reduced version.

If you see one with dial spacing that looks like a reduced dial(chronos farther apart)and says professional on it, that's a fake.

It's not necessary to deal with overseas sellers to buy a good pro from the 70s or 80s at a good price. There are plenty of them under 2k right here in the US from sellers with good fb. And 1700 for that watch was not a great deal; it was right on, except that you will have to worry about customs and shipping issues...along with insurance. I'd pay 300 extra just to buy stateside.

Thanks. I have been following my gut thus far on this and have yet to pull the trigger, due to my experience on ebay with vintage high end musical instruments and the patterns and tendencies of ebay. And all the elements in general. I.e. sellers, fixed prices, market value, condition issues etc. I would really prefer to buy a gently used speedy pro locally with cash, but even after searching the forums I don't know where to begin.

I should add that I will be in Switzerland, just outside of Geneva in January of next year. I'll have a few days off. I'm assuming it may be much higher, but are my chances of finding a used one in Switzerland any different than anywhere else (I doubt it)? i am going for work and whenever I travel for work I find it hard to spend more than I'm making, but this may be the exception to the rule if it is in fact a better deal. My better judgement and memories of trips to Switzerland tell me that all things are more expensive there.
