    2012 Bmw M5

The awesome new Bmw M5 will have itīs official debut at the IAA in Frankfurt in September. It has an impressive 4.4 V8 engine with 560 hp
and two turbochargers. The BMW M5 features three modes of engine operation, eligible through a control in the console: Efficient, Sport
and Sport Plus. The acceleration had to be bombastic, taking just 4.4 seconds from 0 to 62 mph. The speed is limited to 155mph, but with
the optional Drivers M Pack reaches 190 mph. moreŧ

I read about this car a while ago. Looks amazing! I wonder, does it take the crown as the fastest sedan over the Cadillac CTS-V now?

I'm a huge car enthusiast, but I was never particularly fond of sedan supercars. The CTS-V, Mercedes C63 AMG and even the M3 sedan just look to big and tall to me for their performace (even though I know they can perform!)
But I must say, BMW did an amazing job with this car and it looks MUCH sportier than the current/old M5. Definitely up there with the styling of the 4-door coupes such as the MBZ CLS 63, Porsche Panamera Turbo and the soon to come Audi S7. Also, not sure if I should, but I consider the Lexus IS-F to be a truly sporty sedan, definitely has more of a coupe profile.

    Thanks for sharing!

The CTS-V lapped the Nordschleife in 7:59:32 back in 2009, the new F10 BMW M5 did it in 7:55:00, that's F430 territory!

I drive the current model e92 M3 and I love the car, but the direction BMW is taking with their M division as a whole is totally against the history and legacy which has defined M as a brand. Dropping high revving NA engines in favor of forced induction and even worse, adding an M version to pretty much every series in their line up is going to jeopordize their image and lose many faithful customers. I for one will not buy the next M3 when they release it with a twin turbo V6 in a few years.

And the Lexus IS-Fail has no business being mentioned in the same sentence as the M3 and C63. Lexus took an outsourced engine from Yamaha and dropped it into a luxury chassis with added reinforcements. When Lexus puts the money into R&D and builds an engine like BMW and Merc did with their cars, only then it can play with the big boys. And though it has a coupe-like profile, it's a heavy pig and needs to go on a serious diet. BMW is at the moment, still king of the uber sports sedan hill.

Looks to be a beast, I do agree that the forced induction M series is taking away from the appeal from hardcore M enthusiasts. Its clear and open that BMW chose this as its much cheaper to produce then the previous high revving naturally aspirated motors. Darn economy!

One benefit is that with a simple tune or piggyback, turbo back exhaust and raising the boost it should make for some serious power and for cheap!

Having never driven the IS-F, I can't argue. I was just saying that I liked the sleek profile.
I know that this is probably in a totally different class, but the LFA is a beast of a car. On terms with the mercedes SLS, and unless there is something I don't know about, beats any stock BMW M car... definitely faster than the M6

While the styling is nice, I have to agree with the other comments about the loss of a NA engine (and a loss of 2 cylinders to boot!). I drive an e46 M3 and still continue to love the car although an e92 would be nice. Also an "M package" on an "M" car, does this make a bit of sense to anyone except the marketing gurus in Munich who are devising new and sinister ways of getting people to part with their hard earned dough? Lastly, totally agree slapping an "M" on everything does cheapen the whole thing...1 series M ... really?

If I have the money i would like to choose BMW M3, it is hands down the best car in the world, especially since they managed to make a sedan form of the car. No other car embodies the same looks, performance, luxury and safety, and reliability at that price (55k-59k) it does what some cars that cost $100k+ can't do. My friend and i were his great fans. :P

It's amazing what a few styling cues can do.

The regular 5 series looks like a mid 90s Buick. I was appalled when I saw it (same for the 2012 3 series). I have an e92 335 two door and I think it's one of the best looking cars out there (opinion of course). I really felt like they were going super bland with their styling. Almost opposite of what Audi is doing.

Good to see the M series not suffering as much in the looks department.
