I've been interested in the Sistem 51 since I first heard of the pending release of them, but I never bought on because I'm not too keen on the plastic cases. Now that they are in the Irony line, I am very interested.

    Pretty nice.

One thing that I don't like, and I guess this extends to most Irony models, is that the cases are very "melted," in there there are no sharp edges. I don't know if this is a conscious design choice or if it aids in economizing manufacture.

Still pretty sure my first Sistem will be plastic.

That's the traditional "ergonomic" shape of Swatches...I find them very comfortable to wear.

The shape of these new System 51s are in line with the previous Ironies, this is my Dark Phoenix:

Looks great! I have always been intrigued by the Sistem51, and honestly I am intrinsically more interested in a metal watch than a plastic one.

I am so impressed with Swatch for introducing a whole new technology at the low cost side of the market (a whole automatic watch for much less than the cost of a service visit on most brands). I haven't found one that sings to me yet, but I suspect that one day I will own one.

I was in Switzerland last week and figured I had to buy some watch as a souvenir. Without the budget for all the Zenith, Rolex, AP, Patek watches I was drooling over, I wandered over to a swatch store.

i thought I would finally find a swatch I liked in these new irony models. I read the review over at hodinkee a little while ago, but didn't give it too much thought.

well after trying on the irony line, I have to agree with the reviewer and really understood what he meant. I wanted to love them, but I just did not. It felt like they were trying to be something they're not and just falling short. Similarly priced Seikos just seemed heftier and better made. I think the metal just didn't seem high quality and maybe the finish just seems odd to me. I'm not really sure why, but I found I preferred the "real" plastic cased swatch. I walked out with a sistem51 cream posted above and am happy with my new souvenir. I have no idea if the sistem51 will actually see wrist time, but at least i know it's a swatch when i wear it.
