Oh, also, Triton is usually depicted as a merman blowing a conch, which makes the seas rise. That could be a pretty cool case back.

    Re: Project 300: Watch name?

While I agree with the coolness and the significance of the Triton name, I'd say it's a no-go for the reason mentioned by flashback in post #51. It is for similar reasons that I did not suggest the Nautilus name as that may upset the good folks at PATEK PHILIPPE SA

For those not familiar with this name, Nautilus is the fictional submarine featured in Jules Verne's novels Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea (1870) and The Mysterious Island (1874). Verne named the Nautilus after Robert Fulton's real-life submarine Nautilus (1800) (read more here: Nautilus (Verne) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Somehow, I don't like the sound of the name Kraken, which in my native language (Dutch) means (1) to crack, (2) cracks, or (3) squatting, i.e. illegally occupying vacant homes and properties.

Allow me to plug my own suggestion one more time: MKII - CCC
The significance of CCC is, of course, 300 in Latin and should be pronounced Tri Sea (no, that is not a typo).
We could also pronounce it Sea Sea Sea after Xenophon's army of 10,000 Greek soldiers who saw the Black Sea after their horrible march through desserts and over mountain-passes. These soldiers only called out to the sea twice in their native tongue: θάλαττα θάλαττα (read more here: Thalatta! Thalatta! - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and Anabasis (Xenophon) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

The name Triton's already taken for a dive watch, by both Steinhart and its former sister company Debaufre. So that would definitely be a no go.

Yeah, that's a shame about Triton. How about the Hereford? Former homebase of the SAS.

I think we may need to eliminate the following:
Nautilus - out because of the Philippe Patek model
Trident - out because of the Christopher Ward model
Triton - out because of the Defaubre/Steinhart model
Zissou - out because of the movie (no need to risk it in my opinion).

I'm still enamored with the "MKII Argo". The ship Argo was a collaborative build with the help of a great ship maker, the heros of Greece, and the Gods of Olympus. The symbolism and is there and the name lend its self to a beautiful case back.

Or Argo Navis, the constellation named after the Argo.

+1. The Pheon is my favorite of the names suggested so far ...
