How about Valiant? MkII Valiant has a nice ring to it. She was a battleship that was in service in both world wars

Well, not all of us are American, and those of us who are might not necessarily think that highly of Reagan. Let's leave the names with political links to them off the table.

How about Long-Wang or Dragon Kings the Chinese mythological rulers of the oceans. It would look neat with a Chinese Dragon on the back, Rulers of the Ocean around the edge, Long-Wang under, with 300 meters under that. After having the what the slang meaning could be let's change the concept to Ao-Shun King of the North Sea.

Apparently there is an alternative spelling of Lung-Wang. Take a look at the dragon the photo is from the internet I don't own it.

I suspect that we'll have half the pre-orders drop out if we named it the Mk II Ronald Reagan and the other half cancel if it's the Mk II John F. Kennedy. With overseas Mk II fans, perhaps it'll be a 2/3rds attrition rate for both. Given the US Navy's penchant for naming things after politicians, looking to those ships for inspiration is likely to be rather divisive!

It was better in the old days, when they named these things for battles (Yorktown, Saratoga, Midway) or qualities (Independence, Intrepid, Enterprise) rather than friends-of-navy-funding.

Might I suggest the name Thatcher then? Much like my other toolish suggestion (which is the name of an underwater cutting torch), a thatcher is a tool that removes thatch from lawns. The "Thatcher 300", it sounds kinda cool.

Please drop the politician names, I like watches because politics doesn't intrude on horology, let's keep it that way. I'm also pretty sure that forum rules preclude political themes.

I still like Pheon, CCC, Seafire. Vaillent or Valiant are kinda meh for me.

Of course you're both right, I was just teasing for teasing's sake. Anything overtly political or military in nature would be a tough sell (literally). I hearby surrender the Nag-ear joke I had planned. Thanks for getting us back on track.

One genre of names l like is the trident, titan, nepture range. If the 300 group put its collective heads together I bet we could come up with something that's both original and accessable at the same time.
