    Omega calibers database

Here's a database of almost all Omega calibers through the years:

This database includes all the Omega calibers that are presented in the tables created by Mr Marco Richon, former curator of the Omega Bienne museum (he retired last month), and published in Omega reference books. There are more than 530 calibers in the database, up to 2003, 17,415 words, 34 single-spaced pages… I have not yet had the time to include calibers from 2003 to now, such as the coaxials... It incorporates notes and comments that I have gathered here and there, in particular some information offered by Mr Desmond Guilfoyle, the well-known Omega and Constellation expert, who has kindly agreed to let me include his data (with proper attribution).

For those who might be interested, this is a Bento 3 database. Bento is a flat-file database program offered by Filemaker. It is inexpensive, and works on the Macintosh & iPhone/iPod platforms.

    Where can I grab this?

You will find here a Stuffit (.sitx) file containing the Bento 3 template for my database, and the data itself, in a tab-delimited format. You will need Stuffit Expander to uncompress this file, and Bento 3 to import the template and data.

If you do not have Bento 3, you can still open the tab-delimited file in another database program, MS Excel, or Numbers.

As you can see, some of the caliber cards in my database have pictures. However, the pictures did not transfer with the uploaded files. That is understandable, because the export formats are only text-based... However, it's up to every user to populate his own file with pics. One can even add more fields to the database, including more media fields.

    Other formats

Here's an uncompressed version of the data only, in .tab format and Macintosh character set. This can be imported into MS Excel, or opened with any word processor.

And here is the MS Excel file for Windows users. (Thanks to gatorcpa for this).

    The Standard Disclaimer…

If you use it, please understand that this is a work-in-progress, a personal tool that I am offering without any guarantees. There might be errors (…if you find any, please notify me!). Much of the information is in French. Also, as much as I've culled the database, some of the calibers still may have duplicate files. If you find any, please merge them yourself!

I hope you find this useful.

    Bonne journée!

    What? No pictures?

Sadly, the pictures did not transfer. That is understandable, because the export formats are only text-based...

My own file has almost one hundred pictures, which I gathered here and there. I did not kreep track of ownership & copyright, as they were for my personal use.

So I really can't export the pictures or distribute them, neither as files, nor as links…

    Sorry for that!

However, it's up to every user to populate his own file. One can even add more fields to the database, including more media fields.
