These mockups are fantastic. I really like the CN Mark case better (if in SS, not gold) but I have to say, these look really cool. I also have to say I would happily buy any of these, including the ones with Chinese characters for numbers. My favorites are first one (upper left) and last (lower right). I'm also surprised to say I prefer Chinese characters to Roman numerals. I still prefer Arabic or plain markers. If we did plain markers, the Chinese character at 12 (or maybe 8) would really look cool. I love the Chinese writing under the subdial and the "watchseek" on the right of the dial. Both are very classy.

The only thing I think is a miss is the red second hand. Generally I like the idea, I just think it may clash with all the blue on the moonphase wheel.

All in all, an excellent effort and I would happily buy any of these.

Hey linsook, try 1 with the small red stars around the moon, and 12-2-4-6-8-10 in chinese numerals. Also I would like to see arrow shaped hands, without those circles.

    Ps

I'd prefer to see bigger outer ring, like this one

Sorry for the use of WUS logo... hopefully the moderators would not mind for this special design project.

that is beautiful! I love the baton numbering. My real only preference is that the dial color be either white or white-silver. It will give the watch a very beautiful presence, while cream-colored dials just look old to me.

White dial with domed crystals are awesome.

    Why am I into this:

    1. I have nothing against chinese watch industry, would like to have 1 with the "china made" on it, but it has to be of a dicent quality and good quality/$ ratio. I would never buy on of those cheap things without any QC.

    2. I think we have a chance here to get a fine watch as we all deserve, with not so much $ + it is nice to be a part of this project.

    3. So, I am buying this watch because I like its design (I certenly hope so that I will) and because of its quality, but not because it represents chinese culture or chinese watch industry history or...., there fore I am not so much into these chinese symbols, but I am also not against one or 2 if they could give something to watchs personality.

I love the way the circles on the hands are reflective of the moon, the entire moonphase circle, and the watch circle-ness.

    Yay for breuget hands :)

I've said it before and will say this again: thank you linsook

I am one of the "older members pushing for the classic design with Arabic numerals" but will freely admit that the 1st mock-up (top-left) in post #241 looks really good: a splash of red, a Chinese character and very classy & classic.
If we do opt for the word WatchUSeek on the dial, I would reposition it below the date-window.

And how about date-wheels with red numbers? Or would that be too much red? We could also consider a roulette wheel, be it with an off-white back-ground (matching the dial color)

The point some of us have been trying to make is that the entire chinese watch industry is capable of offering you high-quality, affordable, and classically designed watches. Why go to the effort of designing a generic watch, when all one has to do is to go onto eBay, Seagull USA, Alpha HK, Perpetual Watch, and you could get a classically styled watch with no hint of its chinese heritage for a very reasonable price.

The reality is that if we end up with a generic design, most of us would be much better off going to one of these stores above, and picking out the model that exactly suits our specific tastes, as opposed to expending all this effort.

Wow, a lot has been going on since my last visit!!!

Thanks to all those who have made suggestions, with special thanks to linsook for helping us visualise these concepts

Having spoken to Thomas again it seems our choice of case is limited to the CNMark or M308S, both in 42mm. So our next step would be to to choose the colour and design of the dial. I am trying to setup up a meeting with Thomas and share our ideas with him to see what would be viable.

Things are shaping up nicely and it looks like it is going to be a great watch!!!

If there are any questions you would like to ask Thomas please let me know ASAP.

I'd like the CNNark if those are the choices. It would make the watch unique. :)
