I'd prefer to see bigger outer ring, like this one

It has already been suggested that 'Made in China' could be written in Chinese in the style of vintage Chinese watches.

And I agree that a Chinese inscription would be preferable to Chinese numerals.

And what happened to "WUS made" down at 6:00 where "Swiss made" usually goes? Without that you're stripping away the fun, casual, humorous, conversational, part of this very, very, very affordable time piece. This is the kind of dialog we want going to bring others into the hobby and to the watchuseek forum.
As I said before, this in not 'WUS made'. WUS is not a country of origin. And we're not 'making' this watch.

Besides, the name of this forum site is 'watchuseek' not 'WUS'.

And last of all, 'WUS' sounds like 'wuss'. Do you really want to be called a wuss?

The red stars... looks good as decorations, but to be as authentic and loyal to chinese tradition, it would be better not to make the stars red as it's un-auspicious to chinese when "stars turns red".

One another suggestion to the dial, hopefully it will not bring the cost up in production, is that lets have the "clam" background painted in light orange or light blue.

I'm still not a fan of the Chinese numerals, however at least with this arrangement, the dial doesn't look too fussy. Also if we settle on a smaller case, the 12 and 6 can be dispensed with without the dial looking unbalanced.

Actually as I think about it, even with a smaller case, there would always be room for the 12, but possibly not the 12 and a logo. I think having both the 12 and a logo above the date window would be too much.

The 'made in China' inscription below the moonphase looks right to me, but I'm not sure if any other inscription is really necessary down there given the space available.

I think any additional logos or inscriptions (if included) would be better placed across the middle of the dial however it is worth remembering that text doesn't print well on a textured dial.

I'm personally not worried about wearing an 'unbranded' watch. There's quite enough happening on the dial as it is. There will be room on the back to put a few more details.

42mm is perfect for me. The Chinese numerals are growing on me although I'm not all the way there yet. What if the numerals were blue along with blue hands? I'm still on the fence about hand shape - either breuget or swords. Don't think arrows work on this one. Love the red stars. Prefer a narrower outer ring.

    Re: Chinese Numerals

I think this looks great with the smaller characters and doesn't come off as overly kitchy at all.

Again actually really like the small character version on the left!

Why is there so much love for blued hands. I guess I've just never understood the appeal. I do think you've picked out great shapes.

    I likewise

however now it seems that the biggest wristwatch in my collection is going to be a dress watch.

Ah well, I can live with that.

    Hello,

I think a Chinese themed watch is a great idea. However, rather than using Chinese characters, how about using symbolism instead?

Given that this is a moon phase watch, I think a moon symbolism would be a good connection. The moon is prominent in Chinese culture. There are legends of the moon and the myths relating to the moon and there is the Moon Cake Festival (which just ended).

    Chinese moon symbols on Google:
chinese moon symbol - Google SearchMaybe something along the lines of the archer chasing the moon as part of the moon phase design? Hence, the rest of the watch would look understated and classical, but during certain phases of the lunar cycle, the Chinese symbolism reveals itself.

    Something to think about? :)
    Sincerely,
    SY
