I love the Ball Trainmaster style and would vote this as the style. I like the use of Chinese numbers, however I suggest only one number in Chinese, i.e., 8 which is notoriously auspicious and probably one of, imho, the more stylistic characters.
    +1
In case of the chinese numbers , maybe only 12,3 and 9,if they are to complicated, 5,6 are 7 occupied with the moonphase ring, so it is better that they do not exist at all, than to be cut by the ring

I propose around 6, where it often stays 'swiss made' to be 'wus made'with the same little font.
    nice, I like it

    4. seathrough caseback if we get a movement with a nice finish, if not a solid case back, both variants screwdown
I hope we could expect a few nicer ones :) and well regulated as well

    Ps

I forgot that we are cutting the cost, so there will be watch without the strap, but maybe it would be nice to add 10-20$ for a leather strap with a nice signed deploymant clasp.

    Edit

    Dial with chinese numbers

Sorry to disagree, but I don't think sapphire is a must; if we want to keep the price at or below $120, then a sapphire crystal is a significant cost factor and limits other design options like engraved/guilloche'ed dial, applied numerals, or the choices we have in cases (-> thin case bezel) that in my opinion are more important.

Here is my list, in order of importance:
1.nicely finished movement (if we have a see-through case back)
2.name/origin marker in chinese on dial
    3. 40 - 42 mm case diameter
    4.see-through case back
    5.chinese numerals
    6.thin bezel
    7.case as thin as possible
    8.white/light colored machined/structured dial
9.WUS project markings and serial number on back

Another but minor point: the lug holes and the lug-case interface should be specified such that a cheap standard ('submarine type') stainless steel band can be used, like those sold by Alpha for $20-$25. I'd be ok with just getting the watch head, and no band.

Looking at the price, I dun think I can ask much.
For me, a similar design to M199s is fine, a display caseback with a WUS SE engraving, limited edition numbering using chinese char e.g. ㄧ/八八 is very much appreciated =)

Yes me too, i prefear no strap to a crappy cheapo strap, so if we want to keep costs down we should consider just the head, and then everyone will buy the strap he likes

    I would like to see:
    1. 42mm brushed SS case
    2. see through case back with "WUS special edition" engraving
    3. Blackdial, white number and indices with dark blue hands (very thin hands) like in the picture below
    4. in the middle of the dial, i would like to see a round of wave pattern.
    5. I don't think all chinese character for hour marker is a good idea. maybe one marker in chinese character is good.
    6. black strap with blue stiches

I really like the idea of having the special edition with the serial number engraved on the back like: 1 of 88, 2 of 88 etc.

Please no Chinese characters for numbers and no onion crown. As someone said earlier "I totally don't dig it"

    Hands can be blue.

    Cheers, T.

    my view:
    1) ~40 mm
    2) cream or dark-blue dial, nice if it would be guillouched, but not a must
    3) definitely no roman numbers. I'd prefer just stick markers or maybe chinese numerals. Blue in case of cream dial, and polished steel in case of blue. Same for the hands
    4) please NO onion crown. I'd prefer a signed sea-gull crown
    5) see-through caseback is not a must, but a nice option. I don't remember if the watch is gonna be automatic, but if it is, I'd like to have the text on autowind rotor instead of caseback rim
    6) plain moon with no face :)
    7) if we want to keep cost down we'd better get the watches shipped without a strap, but get instead a sea-gull signed clasp to fit on a strap of personal choise
