2011 WUS Chinese Moonphase SE Project - OVERVIEW

Most of you will have noticed by now that a Chinese Mechanical Watches Forum Limited Edition is well underway
We are getting to a point where it will become difficult to keep track of all the discussions, votes and such with the number of threads around the 2011 WUS Chinese Moonphase project increasing. That's why I created this thread, to keep an overview of all related threads and their status.

The 2011 project is currently organized by hked, linsook and martin_b. None of us have any commercial interest or gain in this project. Also no design decisions are made by us. Everything is determined by votes and is only limited by the constraints of the manufacturing party and cost. The current target budget is us$ 120,- excluding shipping.

    The Beginning
It all started with this thread:
    http://forums.watchuseek.com/f72/wus...on-581674.html

    Design
Once the style of watch was chosen, a thread to discuss all design aspects was opened. It can be found here:
    http://forums.watchuseek.com/f72/201...gn-590561.html
This thread will be used throughout the project for discussions on all parts of the watch. This will avoid the voting threads being filled with more discussion than votes.

    Registration
If you want to be in on this project, please add a post with your nickname to this thread
    http://forums.watchuseek.com/f72/201...st-590567.html
The number people have in the list is not the number you will get as Limited number. It probably will be used to determine the order in which people can choose a LE number.

    Polls and votes
Everyone that has registered can vote on all design aspects (until the poll is closed of course )
Please only vote if you really intend to go forward with this watch.

    Style -closed-

It all started with the choice for the type of watch. The poll that has been used is closed, and can be found here:
    http://forums.watchuseek.com/f72/201...te-588035.html
It was decided to go for the Moonphase

    Markers -closed-
First there was an poll on the markers made by blurrycloud. From this poll we found that it's difficult to get a consensus with just a single vote. This is why we started with the Single Transferable Vote system.
The results can be seen here: http://forums.watchuseek.com/f72/201...on-594138.html

The new poll where people can give a list of four choices in order of preference can be found below. It is/was open until Tuesday the 11th of October.
    http://forums.watchuseek.com/f72/201...te-595948.html

The winning choice was full Batons, with full Chinese markers as a close second.

    Dial Color -closed-
This poll is already closed. It turned out that there was a large majority in favor of a cream dial
    http://forums.watchuseek.com/f72/201...ur-595057.html

    Hands
Poll is open until Friday night!
    http://forums.watchuseek.com/f461/20...ml#post4378478

    Case back
    Poll is open until Tuesday:
    http://forums.watchuseek.com/f461/20...te-600268.html

    Crown
    Poll is open until Wednesday:
    http://forums.watchuseek.com/f461/20...te-600450.html

New polls and votes will also be linked to via this thread.
We expect to still have polls on crown, case, and on dial text/logos/...

    To be continued!

Oh, and Please keep all discussions limited to the design thread, also procedural. If this thread will become huge we'll loose overview in the overview thread

    Regards,

    Martin

This poll has only been open for 3 days - two of which were the weekend and today (Columbus Day) is a Holiday, of sorts, in the States. Shouldn't people have a week or so?

No, having a weekend and a holiday to come online is even more reason to have it end quickly. Everyone interested should be able to pop on.

I disagree. On the weekend, - especially a long weekend - many will not be doing their regular routine and checking their most beloved forums, like WUS; it may be on the back-burner.

I think keeping a poll open for a week is both reasonably and proper.

There isn't a good way of opening every design option up for a week, especially when later designs depend on earlier choices. We've got a time-frame for getting the design finalized, and I don't have 6 months to wait while we argue over design decisions. It's simple - if you don't want to keep up, then you can't participate.

    Ouch.

That said, I look forward to seeing the end result here. It's too bad I missed the early discussions and theme selection (despite checking WUS quite regularly), but I like the way things are going so far.

    Re: Martin_B, linsook, HKEd:

Thanks to all the guys helping organize the making of this watch.

Being involved with this project is more fun than buying a great watch off the shelf. Not knowing exactly how it will turn out adds a little drama.

Thanks guys for all your work on this. It's shaping up to be a very special watch. I've already started paying closer attention to the moon.

(And as a consolation for people like me who initially chose the Wuxing homage or the Classic as their preferred style, there is Sea-Gull USA's forthcoming WuYi remake )
