    ST25 rotor noise

Was just wondering whether you guys find the ST25 rotor to be rather noisy? A quick google shows the ST25 is known to have a noiser than usual rotor...

Compared to the ST25s in Parnis models, this one is VERY quiet. When people talk about the ST25 being noisy in a Parnis watch, we're talking you-can-hear-it-from-the-other-side-of-the-room noisy. I still think it's an oiling issue during assembly.

My rotor is silent, but that's because I just unboxed my watch and it won't move. Ugh.

Loudest rotor of any in my collection, but it's loudest when it is wound right down and has the least resistance in either direction of swing. Fully-wound it is no louder than several Orients that I have played with.

Given that some claim it will fully wind in only 2 hours of normal wear, and has a power reserve of 51 hours, I say that it makes so much noise only because it is working so hard

Mine is super smooth and silent.......but then again I have gun shot ears and can't hear worth a shirt lol. One of my biggest disappointments is that I can't hear the ticking of a watch like when I was a kid....they all sound like Quartz to me now

    Query?

Edit: Nevermind. I just saw the 'Does the Back Come Off' thread.

    Re: ST25 rotor noise

Thanks for the info guys. I just got an email from the factory who did my watches (which also uses the ST25). They checked with Seagull and apparently the rotor noise is considered "normal". I'm guessing the ST25s that Seagull reserves for their own watches are quieter. What exactly makes it quieter is anyone's guess...i don't think anyone has taken apart a ST25 to see what causes the noise exactly.

The fact that most ST25s seem to have a noisier than usual rotor would suggest it has something to do with the design, rather than QC.
