The explanation makes perfect sense to me.

I'd believe him too, but if you check his post history, the reasons for choosing a chinese movement for a chinese forum watch have been explained to him SEVERAL times. He's just trolling, and has been all this time.

Auroch, think you may be confusing mikeynd with another poster, but all I can see is 7 posts in the Chinese Watch section, and the 2 in this thread within this forum. Looks like a misunderstanding all round...

So, back to requesting more updates on this watch! Thanks for that one, Martin; unfortunately, we'll always want more!! :P

Being a ..... on the internet because you can. Typically unleashing one or more cynical or sarcastic remarks on an innocent by-stander, because it's the internet and, hey, you can.

Interesting. I'm from Alaska, where it means dragging a lure around behind a boat to catch salmon. I guess I'm still a Luddite.

    LOL

Yeah, that's one meaning of the word. Just remember, words can have multiple meanings.

Not really. It's just another instance of the meanings of words drifting over time. What you are describing might be called 'trawling' in other parts of the world. The spelling changes and suddenly we have a new word for a particular meaning (i.e. dragging a lure behind a boat as distinct from dragging a net behind a boat). This is how we got different words for 'canal' and 'channel' from the same word origin.

Incidentally, I've also read posts where somebody mentions 'trolling ebay', where I think they meant metaphorically dragging a large net to see what comes up, rather than meaning that they were stirring up trouble with all the sellers.
