WUS Chinese Mechanical Watch Special Edition

    Hi everyone,

I would like to know how many people would be interested in a WUS Chinese Mechanical Watch SE? At a recent meeting with Thomas from Hong Kong (source of the 1963 Seagull reissue) the idea of a WUS watch with Seagull movement was discussed, and would certainly be possible if enough interest is generated on this forum.

Hopefully, everyone will get a say in the design of the watch and pricing will depend on the number of watches produced.

Please post a reply if you would like one!!!!! Any suggestions or ideas would be much appreciated .

    Ed

Disclaimer: I have no financial interest in this 'project' and only want an affordable watch I (and other members of this forum) would be proud to wear!

Are there any particular restrictions on what is possible? I guess a 1963 with a special inscription would be easy to achieve whereas some other combinations of movement, case, dial and hands might take a bit more organising.

I would suggest that we steer away from tourbillons as some people like me won't have the money for it.

According to Thomas it's really depends on the quanity and the current production tooling, it can be fully custom if theres enough interest.

I guess the big question is what type of watch everyone wants

    I agree with that.

I don't know how others feel but I'd be just as happy with a well designed three hander as I would with a chronograph or anything too complicated. I think that it's a good ida to keep the watch affordable so that more people can take part. As far as features go, speaking for myself, I'd prefer sapphire and a better quality although simpler movement than a cheaper but more complicated model with mineral glass. I'm always OK with an acrylic crystal

I hope Testdig doesn't mind my use of this next photo, but to start things up, I'm thinking something along the lines of this M310S:

or something like these which are already Sea-Gull Tsinlien products:

    Seagull

    Seagull

    Seagull

    Seagull

...anyways, just some ideas to get the ball rolling. These examples show what can be done, and maybe provide some ideas that could be adapted for something completely original as well?

I've always liked the Chinese movement with the flyback day and date. Seagull USA is a bit out of my price range but the quality control of Parnis seems a bit iffy. So something in between would be nice.
