    Let's See Some Vintage Doxas

This is a sweet little vintage Doxa that I picked up from the sales forum earlier this year. It was a gift for my wife and she really loved it. It's getting a lot of wrist time as it should. It will be a the Atlanta GTG on 22 April for those that want to see some vintage awesomeness in person.

If I had the cash I be buying these up from eBay all day long. Just look at that movement. How cool is that?

WWII pocket watch used by GB. These are the sellers pictures. I have the watch, but I'm lazy.

Crystal has gone yellow, a little radium burn, but I'll have it changed when I have it serviced.

Very cool. Those old pocket watches are great. I hope to pick one up one of these days.

    Enjoy it.

I came to this forum to research the durability/water resistance of vintage Doxa watches. My wife just finished nursing school and I was looking at some options. Because she will be using it as a time reference when recording pulses and respirations, a second hand is required. As she will be washing her hands constantly, I am a little concerned about water resistance in vintage watches (without screw-down crowns). Does anyone have any thoughts?

Those are some nice old Doxa watches! I'm eager to see more as others post pics of theirs. Cheers, Bill P.

I don't have a good answer for you. From what I've read, I would not trust any watch that is as old as my wife's Doxa near the water. That includes vintage Omega Seamasters or Rolex Submariners. It's just not worth the risk.

I know that it may not be the answer that you are looking for but it's the best advice that I can give. Others with more experience with vintage watches may have another perspective but I doubt it.

    Best of luck.

Thanks! It was the exact reply I needed. I guess I will keep the Antimagnetic for myself and order an Aquaman for the wife. (My 16 year old daughter informed me that BIG watches for women are stylish.) With the large hi-vis dial, my wife will have no problem reading the second hand.

    This is my DOXA,

It's around 50's or early 60's. They changed logo laters to DOXA (same size capital letters).
