I can understand that point of view. I think that there are quite a few watches in this price range but I like Doxas. Build quality, history, and my excellent dealings with CS and other members of the Doxa staff are all part of the reason. I also like the idea of supporting smaller companies like Doxa. Rolex, Swatch, LVMH, and Richemont don't need my money and don't even seem to really want it so I am proud to wear a Doxa at every opportunity. I have nothing against the big guys, I just like to spend my very limited budget elsewhere when possible.
I keep a WTB list and a Speedmaster is pretty high on it. There is no question that it is a cool watch and can be had on the second hand market for what I consider very reasonable prices. I hope to one day get one but the referenced Doxa Chronos are a different style that I am currently lusting after.
Longines also make a few Chronos that are just what I am looking for but I have another Longines watch, the Legend Diver no-date, on my WTB list so I'm not really looking at their Chronos. For no rational reason, I'm not looking to add more than one Longines in my collection.

That is the Ethno. The California Automatic looks similar but the dial has a different pattern

that's big even for todays watches. We have lots of old Doxas in Romania and an important part have that tan dial. The old ones go for very few cash but they don't look too god, time left his mark.
