    Just my opinion.

I can understand that point of view. I think that there are quite a few watches in this price range but I like Doxas. Build quality, history, and my excellent dealings with CS and other members of the Doxa staff are all part of the reason. I also like the idea of supporting smaller companies like Doxa. Rolex, Swatch, LVMH, and Richemont don't need my money and don't even seem to really want it so I am proud to wear a Doxa at every opportunity. I have nothing against the big guys, I just like to spend my very limited budget elsewhere when possible.

I keep a WTB list and a Speedmaster is pretty high on it. There is no question that it is a cool watch and can be had on the second hand market for what I consider very reasonable prices. I hope to one day get one but the referenced Doxa Chronos are a different style that I am currently lusting after.

Longines also make a few Chronos that are just what I am looking for but I have another Longines watch, the Legend Diver no-date, on my WTB list so I'm not really looking at their Chronos. For no rational reason, I'm not looking to add more than one Longines in my collection.

These model are available in Central European retail stores for longer time as Limited Edition TC under the same codes (895.10.022.02, 895.10.102.01), the price is €1.550 = $2.066

The model 896.10.022.02 is more expensive , you can buy it for € 2.710

I can see what you're saying. The reason I mentioned the Speedmaster is its such a classic watch you'll never get tired of it. I put off buying a Doxa Sub for a long while and when I got it I wished I'd bought it when I first saw it. I think any watch with a timeless look is a good bet for a keeper.

Very nice indeed; browsing all models on this site, I found this one, which I like even better:

There is no way I can pull off wearing a 47 mm diameter watch, unfortunately (which makes the household CFO quite happy).

That one really is beautiful. I also like the black dialed one that is similar but I don't think that I could pull off 47mm either.

It probably is a homage to the modified Pocket watches and IMO its a great looking homage.

That's what I was thinking as well. I really like the tan colored dial. Actually I like every thing about it except the size. I'd prefer a 42-44mm case but I understand that the pocket watches and conversions tend to be 47mm at the smallest. Some are as large as 55mm...

55mm that's big even for todays watches. We have lots of old Doxas in Romania and an important part have that tan dial. The old ones go for very few cash but they don't look too god, time left his mark.
