Re: Setting my 50s Doxa triple date

Got this last week and for the life of me can't figure out how to set the date and day of the week. No luck finding instructions on the Internet. Help! Also, I understand that gold-cased Doxas cannot be accurately dated. Is this always true?

It's a nice piece- and the black dial appears authentic (most black-dialed Doxas are redials).

True, the gold ones cannot be exactly dated. The serial number system for gold cases is, sadly, not documented.

    It's a Valjoux 72C:
bidfun-db Archive: Watch Movements: Valjoux 72C

Set it with the pushers on the left side of the case (at 8:30 and 10:00)- the Ranfft archive entry for the movement explains which pusher is for which function.

Re: Setting my 50s Doxa triple date

I found out the problem is that the "1/2 push" function on the 10 O'clock button to set the day of the week isn't working. I was able to set the day by the tedious process of manually running the hands around until the correct day came up.

Have it checked by a watchmaker, then- I don't know if the seller provided any recent history of servicing of the watch, but if not, then it'd be a good idea to have it serviced (as it should be every 5 years).
