Saw this neat Doxa on the 'Bay, clueless about it.

I was browsing "the 'Bay" as I do when I'm bored, and I came across this neat old Doxa... I've never seen one like it before, and as the listing doesn't say much about it, I'm left clueless as to what it is, it has a sub-like case, and a neat checkered dial, with an automatic movement. Though I'd love to own it, I can't afford it at the moment (friend had a family crisis, gave her all of my cash), but I'd still find it interesting to learn a little history about it... And on the off chance that one of you buys it, there's a (slight) chance I might be able to own it down the road, too. =P

If time is the most valuable thing we have, don't watches deserve an important place in our lives?

That's a new one to me. That has to be the least conservative Doxa dial ever made. The case looks to be a commonly used one during the Synchron era and they made a number of watches with Conquistador on the dial but that checkerboard pattern is definitely a first.

BTW, I am in the Atlanta area myself. I'll drop you a line when we have our next get together.

That's a great looking watch, IMO. I am very curious about the "DOXA by Synchron" era DOXAs. Are there watches looked at in a lesser light than all of the mega dollar DOXAs?

Before I really new what I was doing, I bid on a DOXA by Synchron. It was my first "vintage purchase" as it was made in or around 1975.

So, is the DOXA by Synchron watch any less "DOXA"? I did some research about why DOXA did the Synchron thing in the early/mid 70's due to the "quartz crisis". Very interesting stuff.

    Anywho, sorry for the rambling.
