Confused Help in picking watch for g/f (dazed and confused)

Hi all. Long-time lurker, but haven't posted til now. Great forum here and tons of knowledgeable folks, I always reference it when getting a watch. Greetings!

I'm trying to find a watch for my long-time g/f who just got a master's degree and (coincidentally) lost her old watch (which was just a random watch).
She picked a Jazzmaster out of an advert. But I'm also torn on getting a Bulova heart window watch, or the Tissot Lady Heart, or even a Victorinox or Citizen Eco-Drive, and there are a million other great watches to choose from too.
Any thoughts? I think quartz would be preferred but not a deal-breaker, and she definitely has small wrists/hands so a monster is out of the question. Under $400 would be great but no problem going higher. She is headed to med school so I'd like something that's quality, attractive, and likely to last through til the end (and it has to have a second hand). Basically something appropriate to the undertaking but not so presumptuous as to say, "Hey I'm an M.D.!, and that doesn't break the bank.

Hamilton Jazzmaster Lady Quartz Mens Watch H32351115

Amazon.com: Citizen Women's EW1620-57X Eco Drive Stainless Steel Watch: Silhouette: Watches

I know guy's watches mostly due to having a wish list as long as my arm. But chick watches are...ack. Strange and confusing. Any help/advice would be great!

I would get her what she wants. If she likes the Jazzmaster, then that is the one. Make it an adventure... take her shopping and try on all sorts.

Yea, have to agree with the "get her what she picked out" folks. Plus you really can't go wrong with Hamilton.

If you are looking at Bulova -I do think the Precisionist line is pretty neat. Love those sweeping hands.

The Lady Heart is on my wish list right now, but I'll also vote for the Jazzmaster since she's already told you that's the one she wants.

We really like it when you guys show you're listening to us.

Oh hm yeah that makes a certain kind of sense! So I'm looking at the Jazzmaster H32351115 (sapphire crystal, plus quartz--is automatic generally not as safe a bet for a person new to watches?) and then thinking of stacking that with a Baby-G for more daily use.

Thanks for the feedback folks. :)
