    2012 Tourbillon questions????

First of all I am interested, I have never owned a tourbillon, so it would be a nice addition..
I understand that they may not be as reliable as other watches from what I have read, but they are beautiful pieces in their own right, and I would love to own one..

Regarding the price, would their be an option to pay instalments for those that want to spread the cost - Im thinking pay a deposit and then a set amount every month while the concept comes to life with the final payment hopefully around delivery time or a bit before? That would help with the upfront cost which is alot for some of us?

What happens if you register and then don't like the final design?

When would a deposit be due?

Sorry for the noob questions, but I had to ask..

And I love the idea of a group forum watch, it adds exclusivity and want to thank the people who are willing to go through the chaos that will be the organisation part

    Re: 2012 Tourbillon questions????

At the moment this is just a registration of interest in a Tourbillon side project watch to the main WUS CMW 2012 project.
Having said that, we are asking for a serious interest.
It is after all a forum watch where certain aspects will be voted on and we need to be prepared to accept certain compromises where majority vote rulesnvs personal preferences.
In return you will be getting a fairly unique design, unique to this forum and the small number that will eventually be produced.
As for the cost, we have a good indication and this process will take several months until finished and it it is up to the interested party to have the funds ready at the time when a firm commitment is needed. Ultimately after all the fun of choosing an voting, if no sufficient number of players are in the game the whole project will collapse like a pack of cards.
As a matter of fact, it is beginning to look like this already given the current level of interest which as far as I understand is far from the minimum required of 50 to get anywhere with it.

more important is where can you get it repaired once it goes bust, or when it needs maintenance
and if so, for how much
i dont think there are many people who are able to repair the ST8000 as of yet
that is my main worry for the time being

Im definitely interested if there is the ability to pay monthly, say starting from next month..

    edit

3-4 months is probably out of my budget then as that is 200 per month

If you don't like the final design we are not going to force you to purchase the watch . However, we do ask you to sign up and participate only if you are truly interested in buying this watch.

When would a deposit be due?

The initial deposit will be paid when the final design is finished and there are sufficient members registered (in this case 50). The balance will be payable prior to delivery of watch, usually around 3-4 months after initial deposit.

Sorry for the noob questions, but I had to ask..

No problem, relevant questions are always received with pleasure and welcome to the CMW Forum!

And I love the idea of a group forum watch, it adds exclusivity and want to thank the people who are willing to go through the chaos that will be the organisation part

    +1

It's far too expensive to toss it in the garbage when broken and changing out the movement will not be easy or cheap either. All mechanicals need maintenance, where to turn to come service time?

I think I saw in the other tourbillon thread that Thomas would be our man for any servicing, but I may be mistaken.

    Here is the answer:

That's sound helpful, but let us for a moment consider a scenario where Thomas is not around (not that I hope that this will happen!), what's the fallback then?

Having to collect multiple times through the project will likely make things significantly more complicated for the organizers... to be blunt, if you can't afford it at the time of payment, either put it on credit (bad idea for a luxury item) or don't purchase it at all...
