Thumbs Up New Breitling Cosmonaute limited 50th anniversary of first wristwatch chronograph in space...

It is 43mm and has a date display, and the same old 3 bar water rating. It also has an in-house manual winding movement, Caliber 02. Interesting that the manual winding movement has 39 jewels, which makes me think it's a modified automatic movement. It's also high freq (28,800 vib/hr). On the plus side it has a 70 hour power reserve. Limited to 1,962 pieces. I like this Cosmo a lot. It's a very nice 50th anniversary tribute.

    Great anniversary watch.
A tribute to a icon watch and moment in time.

I was more hoping for something like this though

Good point. It would have been nice to see an all black dial. Something really different from the current lineup and more like the vintage.

Would have been nice to see something different - a glass back perhaps? Still, a classic design and very nice watch.

Hello, Cdr. Carpenter's daughter! A few years ago I had a couple of my friends contact you to have your dad sign their Breitling Cosmonaute watch straps. He did so and my friends and I appreciated it very much.

Recently during the 50th anniversary celebration of your Dad's flight I attended the event described in the link provided below. Thought you might enjoy it...

I am a moderator for that forum hence the reason for the article. The relevant information is in the first post in that forum thread. Take a read and see what you think...

As an aside, if you would like a high resolution version of this pic I'll be happy to send it to you...

Here are a couple of others you may enjoy...

Thanks so much for taking the time to read my note. Have a great day and

    Hi Ron-

Kris is no longer running her father's web site. I have been running it for the last two years.

I love your photographs and have included them in the 50th anniversary section of his web site. How would you like your photo credits to be listed [if it's ok with you that they're reprinted]. You can see the page directly at 50th Anniverary

I was supposed to be at the NYC part of the unveil, but was pulled away at the last minute. However, I was at the Player's Club for the 50th anniversary party. It was quite an evening.

I'm glad that Kris was able to get your time piece signed. The only problem with that is that you can never wear it again.

There are some nice "old" Breitling photos scattered throughout the site from contributors. Photos are always appreciated.

Hi, Tracy. Thank you so much for your kind and courteous reply. My apologies for not remebering Kris' name in my letter's greeting. Please tell her hello for me.

Congratulations on the fine job you have been doing as webmaster for Cdr. Carpenter's site. Very well done and professional in every way.

Thank you also for the honor of including my photos on the site. You are also most welcome to use any other photos of mine posted on Flickr in my Breitling pics slideshow. ( Slideshow Shots ) Please list photo credits using the name Ron Scott.

    Thanks again and
    Best Regards,
